Inspecting a 2006 CLK55--what to look for?

Hi all, we have an "agreed" price on a CLK55 'vert pending inspection tomorrow.

What should we look for? I hear the diffs can leak, and the brake MC can stick. Anything else?

It drives really well, although it's slightly creakier than others we've driven. I hear there are rubber things you can replace in the top to seal it up better, any links to that?

Very excited!

The AMG suspension is a bit stiffer than the average Benz, The springs will creak and take some getting used to. The convertible chassis will flex a bit more and has x-tra support braces to accomodate harsh environments.
If the engine/drivetrain are suitable than you have a benchmark car.
The creaks are worth the flight!!

Motor mounts
Valve colver oil leaks
Crank Position Sensor
Tranny electrical connector leak

are all 'common' problems.
Most of these can be fixed yourself for under $100/each.
Mounts at a shop can probably run $500-800?

For cosmetic issues take a look at the clock and temp gauge in the speedometer. Those LCDs are known for having a few pixels go out. It can be a pretty easy fix (couple hundred bucks) if you find someone that knows what they're doing and reseats the cables- or else the dealer would charge you X,XXX for a new speedo. If it doesn't bother you then no harm.

I heard that, but there's GOT to be a substitute out there, no? Rotors aren't exactly a complicated part...the ones on my SE30 cost $18 a piece!

So it got 55K supercharge on it ? I would be very careful to purchase without a good inspection. You should have a list of what is done in this car in mods.
Good luck !
