2002 CLK55 AMG Cabriolet
Zimmermann Formula Z Rotors

I need to change out the Rotors and pads on my 2002 CLK55 AMG Cabriolet. Does anyone have any experience with the Zimmermann Formula Z Rotors? These would be the non-drilled or slotted version. Thoughts? Thanks!

Sorry no experience with Zimmermans but I installed Stoptech slotted rotors a year ago along with new pads and SS hardlines and am happy with the setup though I will take a hard look at the Akebono pads when it is time for a pad switch. Good luck.

Racingbrake offers light-weight two piece replacement rotors for your 2002 Mercedes CLK55 AMG.

RB - 17.9lbs
OE - 22.2lbs

We offer the option to purchase replacement rings for a fraction of the cost. Saving you money when its time to replace the rotor ring in the future.

Same No experience with thouse.

I do have experience with the R1 Concept Rotors

Get the best slotted and drilled rotors they sell, Pair them with Aekebonos.

It was a great set up for me. Rotors were $300 Pads I think another 150.

Why go from a one piece rotor to a two piece rotor? Unless you are racing and going through rotors I guess I dont see it yet.

I am not sure whats up there (1 or 2 piece) but I am sure the caliper bushings are blown out along with the OEM rotors. Brake pads are gone as well.

Just studied the R1 concept link from Jkidd and it looks promising, Found a couple of nice crossdrilled samples on e-bay. but getting skeptical.
I installed an E-bay AC compressor today and it is born in china, as long as it pumps quietly and does not put me on the side of the road. expansion valve and drier next before charging.
There are quite a few options for rotors but all in all seems the more you spend the more you get. I am game for something that has lasted as long as the OEM and are safe.

Do you have a two piece rotor for the rear as well? I am happy to see a nice two piece for the 208 55amg. The cost is close enough to the factory rotors that I'm thinking about going with them.

Unfortunately, we do not have any rear two piece rotors available for the 208 55 AMG. Sorry about that.

I like the two piece concept but the 680.00 per pair just does not make sense for a daily driver.
Racing only or weekend warrior might benefit the design. Once my odometer hits 200,000 I am going to get on the modification track.
I spotted those Zimmermans on e-bay and put them on the watch list. There are a few others worth noting as well. (Stoptech) hmmmm!
The R1 concepts gave a 10% off but only listed rear for my car (fair priced). I may have to dig deeper.

I started shopping for rotors and pads, WOW these must be made with gold.
The site sponsor is actually reasonable considering prices for basic add ons like cross hatch or drilled.
I dug into some older threads and found that the Zimmerman rotors have been around for quite a while. I would recommend them if they are desired.

The stop-tech brakes seem all out exotic with custom calipers to match the rotors, expect to spend quite a bit. tell the wife it was a flea market find etc... lol.
can be found on amazon.com.
I ended up with cross drilled only fronts n rears e-bay. wife knows better than the flea market story.
