CLK55 Fuel economy
How many miles do most of you get out of a tank of premium? With gentle driving, highway driving, etc.
So far I've been averaging 21 overall, according to the car display. Thinking about changing the fuel filter, checking air filters, and doing spark plugs. Anything else that should be replaced that would affect fuel economy? Car has 70,000 miles by the way.
I suspect the car was sitting for a bit(few months tops) before I bought it.

We get about 20 highway. Don't think we've seen higher than 22. New plugs / wires / etc. The fuel filter is integrated into the fuel pump in ours, yours might be different. I'm kind of surprised people are getting such high numbers.

I'm currently getting 21mpg on the hwy averaging 80mph. It would clearly be better if I used less right foot and had new plugs and wires.

Mpg
I can still get 23 mpg if I drive speedlimit on the fwy with blower cams exhaust ported heads.
I consider a mpg check as part of my regular 'tune' check, along with fuel trims, and afr.
To me this indicates a properly running tuned machine.
I agree with ozzfinn if the car is wildly modified, but the beauty of these modern machines you get hp tq and mlg.

17.4mpg over the last ~6500mi on mine. That's about 90% city driving
I was up to 18.1mpg over ~8000mi previously before I swapped the battery.
On the highways I usually get 22.

Overall was about 17-18, and thats with occasionally stepping on it. But 90% highway driving, yeah, it was 22 absolute tops.
To the guy who told me to buy a prius. NO! Haha, the only reason I started this thread was to be sure my car was running properly. Good fuel filter, good air filter, etc. Although I will change those items anyway along with the spark plugs. That'll be next weekends project.
