Traded My 430 for a 55 Today!

Hello everyone, been a long while since I've posted, mostly due to health reasons. Today, I traded my trusty, beautiful Opal Black CLK430, for a beautiful W208 CLK55 AMG. It's equipped with two-tone interior, Black and white, every option with the exception of Navigation. It only has 62,500 on it, good maintenance records, and is in very nice condition. I only plan on appearance mods, nothing else, and I'm very excited.

Take Care all!

Lets see pics. I feel like black on black and white is the best color combination for a w208 AMG.

Congrats!

I loved my w208. Still regret selling it. Would be awesome to have the w209 as the Garage Queen and the w208 as a daily.

While the looks and speed go to my 209, the 208 was far more comfortable and had a much nicer ride.

So the W209 is faster? That's cool! A W209 is my next car, in a few years. I absolutely love it, pics coming tomorrow, just got out of the hospital... Sucks, I bought it then the next day I was admitted. So I finally get to enjoy it! I did get the chance today to remove the terrible chrome surrounds someone put on the headlamps, and, though they were in good shape, I completely restored the lenses to crystal clear. Quick tip for everyone, if you restore your lenses, buy some Clear Bra material from ebay and apply to the freshly restored lamps, they will not yellow afterwards, and it just generally protects them very well... Make sure you have a good heat gun. I love the W208 platform, next will be fixing the pixels on the gear select and the clock.... Eventually I will be installing comand since I have voice activation.

I was under the impression the W208 AMG was slightly faster, handled and stopped better due to reduced weight over the W209 AMG until the 05's got better brakes. I like how the W208's came with the 2 tone interiors which really set apart the cars while the W209's were given chrome accents on the exterior, an analog clock in the instrument cluster, and interior and styling similar to the c class. The w209 is a great car too though just not for my taste. If I ever got a w209 it would be hands down an 05.

So 202 hp per ton vs 213 per ton.... However torque is equal... Redline is higher. Let's do this, anyone with a bone stock w209 in northern CA PM me and we'll line em up and end the debate... Personally I don't really care, but to put this to bed, proof is in the pudding. Been some discussion on this before:

Isn't the 209 about 200-300 lbs heavier as well? You'd have to line it up at the drag strip using the same driver. Its so close it'd probably come down to the driver if two people lined them up.

its only about 150lbs heavier ... which IMO is an advantage .... why? these cars at times have trouble putting the power to the rubber - with a heavier weight IMO it creates better traction - also, the power band is higher on the W209 along with higher HP ...
