Gas pedal stuck.... wide open throttle
I had a scary experience yesterday... While getting on the freeway I accelerated and the gas pedal stuck wide open. I was able to turn off the ignition and coast to safe stop. Once stopped the pedal was easily unstuck from the floor and I checked it repeatedly and was not able to get it to stick again. Has this happened to anyone else?

No, the mat was clear the pedal was collapsed. It came unstuck when I depressed it with my hand and popped back up.

Might be something failing inside the pedal unit. Simple to replace, just swap it out. Not worth the risk if the slide is binding inside.

I was able to duplicate the issue and get the pedal to stick. The pedal has a decorative aluminum pedal cover that slides over the plastic pedal. The cover on mine fit loosely and will slide up. When it slides up slightly it causes the pedal to stick. I was able to slide the cover back down and secure it.

Check you gas pedal.....
