2002 CLK55 AMG instrument Cluster Replace
Anyone replace their instrument cluster ? i sent mine to fix the pixel to this place http://www.myairbags.com/cluster_pixel_repair.php and they say they cannot repair mine.
So im trying to find another place to have it fix.
but if ever mine cannot be repaired, did anyone here just replace their Cluster and did it work? I'm sure it did not read the correct mileage but other then that did it work fine?
Please help anyone?

I'm not really sure what is wrong with it or why they cannot fix it. but I will try a local place here first then if they cannot fix it then i'll try your suggestions.
if all of them cannot fix it , i have to look for an AMG Cluster to replace.

There are many threads on this site and the other MB forums about fixing pixels...very common...most are somewhat easy repair...don't go back to the guy who said can't fix...obviously can't deal with circuit board ribbons (what needs to be fixed).

I bought the ribbon cables and fixed mine myself, it was very easy. I paid around $30 for the silver ribbon cables and about two hours of my time altogether. Probably would've taken a lot less time if I didn't change out the LCD panel back lights as well (ran into complications). If your instrument cluster can't be fixed, then there is something a little more serious than ribbon cables, or the company doesn't know what they are doing. Which in this case I would find the latter really hard to believe.
Replacing your instrument cluster will fix whatever problem you are having with it, as long as the replacement instrument cluster is working properly. There is a chance the ribbon cables will be original and you will more than likely run into the dead pixel issue. However, most instrument clusters you will find will probably have already fixed this issue. Your mileage and everything else will stay the same as I believe this information is stored in your ECU. Someone please correct me on this if I am wrong.
