Considering vinyl wrap. Bad idea?

I love my car 2005 CLK55 cab but not crazy about the exterior color. It's a pewter like color that is a mix of brown and grey. Painting sounds like a bad option and nowadays I see more and more people wrapping their car.

I know very little about how it works but depending on cost I'd like to consider it and would appreciate any advise or tips. Or if this is just a lfatout bad idea please say so.

I have a black interior and black top. I'd prefer not to go with all black. What are some good colors? Thanks

Your current colour sounds to be Cubanite silver. I would not cover it as not many CLK W209 AMG's can be found in that colour. But if you must no harm I suppose as you can always peel it away at a later stage. Maybe a white colour, or the orange, maybe a fire truck red or a mustard yellow or phoenix gold. I would see what my favourite colours are then look on the net for a model like yours painted that colour to decide. If you have someone with adobe photoshop, they could alter the colour easy for you and you can decide from there.

Itsa great idea....painting a car is just too much $$ these days to do it right and when/if you want to sell, peeling it off to reveal the original stock paint is best for retaining the car's value.

Just keep in mind that vinyl can also chip from rock impacts and is not 100% weather proof.

Other than that it's a GREAT option to change color.

It's not cubanite silver. I just can't recall the name MB uses. pewter is the best decsription I can think of.

I like regular silver but I don't think a wrap will look like a typical paint job.

Car not driven much and almost never in bad weather. Always garaged.

If your paint is still in good condition, it is a good alternative to painting the car, since that way it'll allow you to go back to the original paint color/finish without really affecting the value of the car.

Anyone know what cost is to wrap the car? I also have damage to lower front air dam/bumper. Can the wrap hide that?

I would in a heartbeat. A matte grey or a matte black would be my choice.

Full wraps from a reputable company out here in the LA/OC area start at around $2500. Just depending on color, brand etc. I'm sure you can find it cheaper if necessary.
