Who has had a problem with limp mode

Recently purchased a 2003 CLK55. Car is amazing, but the issue with it is under hard acceleration the car goes into limp mode and with the usual of shutting it down and restarting it goes back to normal. Some times there is a hesitation (whether traction control is on or off) and it goes into limp and the check engine comes on. Havent put myy scanner to check codes yet.

Just wondering if there is a quick fix

TIA

Depends on how "quick" you work. first thing to try is to locate the trans control unit under the passenger side foot well and see if it has transmission fluid in it. Trans fluid will wick up the harness if you have a bad 13 pin connector seal and it will cause the TCU to do odd things.

Other than that issue, it sounds like a conductor plate issue. it's a fairly simple fix and can be done in an afternoon.

Finding the Trans control unit on a CLK

Can someone tell me specifically how to locate the Trans control unit on a 2002 AMG CLK55? Is it under the car under the passenger side foot well or inside? Sorry about the question but I have the transmission limp/stuck mode that happens on full acceleration every time and would like to check this control unit before a conductor plate replacement.

Thanks

Found Limp mode once after intake went south later inhaling an injector seal.
Engine is an incredible survivor.
Transmission, Crank sensor, MAF or a large intake leak will get you into limp mode. Electronics failures other than alternator or battery are uncommon but likely.
Especially if the car is parked in a place where animals might nest.
It happens.

2002 CLK 55 Transmission harness plug difficulty

I'm changing the wiring harness plug and the conductor plate on my 2002 CLK 55. Darn thing is that all the videos I saw on Youtube are from V6's I believe; the wiring harness plug all looked fairly easy to remove and replace. Not the CLK55! Almost impossible to reach because of the exhaust pipe. I have removed the plug but not the internal connector that is held by a 7mm nut. Cant find a tool that reaches and removes that 7mm!
Just wondering if anyone has done this job in a CLK 55 and how they did this.

Thanks!!

Accelerator pedal sensor

I would look at this first. One of the first things to go wrong with my car.

Can you temporarily fix it by cycling the car power off and on again?

Does it only happen after full throttle, then goes into limp mode?

If so, 100% it's the pedal sensor.

I have done my Cab. there is a shield to remove that bolts to the trans pan hold down bolt. The twist lock connector can access now.
A 5.5 deep 1/4 drive worked for me/ Did the same on a friends ML 430.
Found Limp mode on W208 2 coupe.WOT event. no CEL. Trans code Sol 87 voltage issue. The car would accelerate under WOT only after it failed no throttle response in between.
Resets after key off for a few moments.

Good Luck, Gator

2002 CLK 55 Transmission harness plug difficulty - cont.

Thanks again for the input. Removed the twist lock now I will try the 5.5 1/4 deep socket to remove the connector itself.
My Cab had the transmission issue of going on limp mode after hard acceleration. A key reset would put it back to "normal". I had to always accelerate gradually to avoid this. Last week it went on "permanent" limp mode. The key reset would not work anymore. That's why I figured I had to deal with the Conductor Plate & connector replacement. I will also have to look at the TCM to see if its impregnated with oil. Hopefully not.
