Clk32...

If they made those in production, would you ever buy one over the CLK55, say it has the same 3.2K engine that's in the current in the C32, same specs. The cost would ofcourse be lower then that of the CLK55, but i think the performance would be the same.

Agreed. Sometimes, simplicity is better.

I would definitely get it. Could careless about the V8, as it'll probably be a V6 but with at least 300 HP maybe. AMG is AMG and a CLK32 AMG would be just enough sufficient if the price is right..

Question forgive my AMG ignorance... but

Did the CLK 32 ever get produced ? US / Europe ?

I want to know because I want to find out if the AMG exhaust system for
the C32 / CLK 32 or CLK 55 will fit my W203 chassis ? I have a 2003 C320 Sports Coupe, that I would like to retrofit with AMG components.

Everyone tells me a different story saying: "it can't be done", "it is possible", "I don't know", "try it and let me know how it goes", etc...

anyway, what AMG exhaust (even if it just the muffler - oval twin tips) will fit my C320 Coupe ?/?

I've crossed over into the AMG forums looking for an answer... Please don't kill me because I don't own an AMG, but believe me if I could ($$$) I would.

Thanks !

Lightbulb Interesting post here...

That's a great question, and I see legitimate arguments for both. I'd like to know which engine is heavier, and how the change in weight (If any) effects weight distribution. You would initially assume that the V6 motor would be lighter, but I suspect that it's not because of the supercharger/intercooler system. However, I would bet that the V6 would concentrate more of its mass further away from the front wheels and more towards the firewall and the cars overall center of mass. I'd bet that a CLK32 would understeer less, assuming that the rest of the car would stay the same as the CLK55...

A CLK32 could be tuned for more power for less money, that's for sure, and that may be its biggest benefit, although the 55 would ultimately be capable of having more power obviously. The 32 motor could be tuned with "boost kits", i.e. smaller pulleys and a revised ECU. Certainly alot less expensive than buying an entire supercharger assembly. The shorter V6 would also allow better engine cooling, I would imagine, as there would be more room between the engine and the radiator for airflow to move through.

Being that AMG BRED has both a C32 and a CLK55, I think he's pretty well qualified to judge the two powertrains, and if he's leaning towards a CLK32, I'd have to agree. I would miss both the V8 rumble and the additional pedigree of having a large displacement Mercedes Benz AMG V8, and they're both worth something...

An interesting post and good food for thought...

Best regards,
Matt

...............I have a non AMG CLK32 with a few extras. Originaly CLK320 with the diff changed to a 3.27 diff plus a Kleemann supercharger with a boost kit and ECU re-map and a Kleemann speed sensitive suspension. With this car in my garage, lets just say that I find it impossible to become excited about any other car. What ever car I test drive falls markedly short. In my confusion I did what any other American would do, I bought an SUV......G55 then I supercharged it with a Kleemann. With AMG moving away from superchargers, I doubt that there will ever be an AMG CLK32. My experience with mine shows me that it was a missed opportunity. The car is quite a rocket.
