W208 CLK55 chassis codes - 208.374 / 208.474 what is the difference?

Hello,

I am trying to find front shocks from my W208 CLK55 and it is tricky. I bought Sachs OE ones that were too short. I see some listings with the chassis code. My CLK is 208.374 but some of the shocks are for 208.474. Can someone tell me what the difference is? I thought 208.474 might be convertible but I then find coupe listings showing either chassis code.

thanks!

How short are they? I believe some shocks are spec'd to be paired with lowering springs. Also my guess is some models came with different spring pads which may be the difference.

Thanks. The Sachs OEM ones I bought were about 2-3 inches too short. I know the sport ones from Bilstien are to be used with lowering springs. These I bought because they said OEM.

I actaully posted about it here -

Thanks, that is what I thought for the chassis code.

The shocks are different though. They have different parts numbers. I can only assume the cab ones are different or shorter.
