Clk55 question! Expert advice needed!!!

Hey guys, while stripping down interior for refresh I noticed these two freely open holes underneath the components for what I assume was the mobile phone hookup since that box says Motorola.

QUESTION!!!

Should it actually be like that? Are they vent holes? Look like they're pretty protected by the diff being right underneath and there was not moisture or road debris in there. I'm just concerned with critters getting in etc. anyone know?

Thanks!!

Gator, anyone thanks! I am moving and will be putting the interior back in this week!

I don't remember removing any plugs in those holes, and my car doesn't currently have any, but it looks like there used to be a plug in at least one of the holes. I would buy a pair of grommets at the local auto parts store and plug them, just to keep the dust out.

Having some long lost past Paint and body shop experience.

Un plugged body panel holes are sometimes used for venting from a flood or assembly line holding fixture.
Tourque boxes on unibody are for assemble and guidelines for frame repair machinery.
If its not broke dont fix it.

Cheers

I did this to my car(w202) and the floor has a few holes that have rubber plugs.
