Hrs away from ordering some new rims, 18s or 19s?

I am hours away from ordering a set of rims and tires for my w208 CLK55 AMG but I am confused whether to get 18s or 19s.

I am looking at Tireracks ASA ST4 (chrome). I run the car about 5-6 months of the year, and store it in the winter. I would keep the stock 17s as well.

Please help me decide. I am basing my decision right now solely on looks, cost is not a factor right now... I want the car to look conservative but have a bad *** attitude as well.

Thanks!

i would go with 19s. 19s make the car a lot more aggressive. The car you have comes with stock 17s, in my opinion, its not worth it to upgrade only by 1 inch with rims, at least 2!

Based on my experience, you will like the 18 better.

I had 19 HRE on my CLK and after a month , i sold it and put on 18.
They drive better. the 19 is just all about opical illution.

good luck .

check out my thread to see 19 on a clk and 18.

I have 19's on my CLK55 W208; I have always had them on the car so I can't tell you if performance is diminished with 19's I run 235/35 19's all around I would prefer a staggered setup but haven't gotten around to upgrading. See my thread "pics of my clk55" I have Lorinser LM5 polished ; the look is quite agressive. I have no problems spinning the tires either they are heavy but they still spin when you give it some gas ; I too am deciding on what size my next wheels will be. I can tell you that 19's dont allow for too much rubber between you and the road ; my rims have bent easily on OK potholes the car also hops a wee bit in an agressive corner or on ramp; again not sure if thats the 19's or my driving . Most people cant tell wether you have 18 or 19 has been my experience until they look at the tire size.

Post some pics of the rims you're looking at I'd love to see them

Thanks and Drive ON!!

Thanks all you. I've decided to go with the 19s. There is a difference of 500 bucks between the silvers and chromes. My car is Black, but I dont want that bling bling look, and I feel these wheels in chrome wont cause that. So, you think the extra 500 bucks is worth upgrading to chrome?

BTW I will keep the stock 17" Monoblocks which are silver, so chrome could be a change as well...

Ill be ordering these in 3-4 hours now... so lemme know

wat brand wheels you ordering? in my opinon chrome is really a bling bling look, i would go with the silvers, save the 500 dollars and maybe upgrade your suspensions with it. Chrome is just too shiny in my eye, especially on a black car.

Chrome is also HEAVY as HELL!! and if you want light wheels polished is the cleanest look IMO. I would do springs with the extra $$$ . Just my dime worth hope it helps

Are you going to go staggered?? I'd highly suggest that; the guys at HRE said we can run 10 on the back with little to no fender roll; and then 8.5 in front for a really agressive look.

Can't wait to see the PICS!!!! Congrats!!

Yes, im going with a staggered setup. Here are the weights:

19x8.5 chrome (29.5lbs)
19x8.5 silver (27.3lbs)
19x9.5 chrome (31.7lbs)
19x9.5 silver (30.0lbs)

So, difference of 2.2lbs for the fronts and 1.7lbs for the rears...

decisions, decisions, decisions...

I'd choose silver

Silver is classy, yet understated. Silver is also a little more "sporty" looking. Chrome is too flashy, and it also reflects like a mirror.
Just my 2 cents.
Good luck and let us know which ones you choose.

Done deal! I ordered the 19" staggered setup with the Neros in CHROME. It was a hard a$$ decision, but since I store the car in the winter, keeping the silver monoblocks and my car is black I went with the chrome. This way I get the best of both worlds...

I will post photos once I get these on, which should be soon since they had everything in stock

Once again, appreciate all your help in this and stay tuned for photos

Nice choice; P Zero Neros are kick *** tires !! a friend had BBS with Pzeros and his car handled like a dream. Not too much wieght difference I think I would've gotten the chrome in that case as well; didn't look like they came in highly polished lip? Nice look though!! Congrats and post pics when ya get them. Is it cold up in MI yet?? Have friends in Battle Creek and they said summer ends in August there. Anyways I am sure you'll be happy with your selection. Are you going to go with chrome MB centers as well ? My dealer showed me those the other day and told me to upgrade ?!

Its still summer where im at. I usually store the car around Thanksgiving time so I still have 3 months to roll these rimmies...

The cap will be a "laurel leaf OE mercedes cap." See photo attached. Performance products sells them for 16.95 a piece ($70 for 4). I get 'em free with my wheels

Damn, that's heavy. I think my Kleemann 19s are about 18 lbs
