W209 CLK55 - Worn shocks, don't want spacers

My CLK55 has a leaking shock, and feels a bit crashy and bouncy so the time has come to rectify this as I don't like how the ride feels.

At first, I was thinking about some KW V1s (daily driver, don't really care about adjusting the dampening) but I keep reading about spacers being required. Garages can be very hit and miss here, I just want to keep things simple and have a solution that does not require spacers.

If KW V1s are kept at stock height, do they still require spacers? Or do I need another option?

TIA

I went with the Bilstein B14 on my C55 6 months ago and I couldn’t be happier with the way they ride. They were pretty straightforward and didn’t require spacers.

What is your mileage? I am at 130k and have replaced rear shocks but not front. I guess springs have probably been replaced in the past.

Replacing rear shocks is very easy and made a big improvement for me.

it’s 100K KMs, so around 60K miles. It’s one of the fronts that is leaking, makes a horrible hissing when going over speed bumps.

If you don’t want to adjust height, why not get factory shocks or Bilstein equivalents?

60k is not high mileage, but I guess usage and the roads matter a lot.

Dubai roads have what looks like "slow down" paint on the roads, but when you go over them they are actually mini-speed bumps and on my CLK55 they give a nasty jolt right up your spine, especially the ones on the Palm Jumeirah and when you go over the ones on the motorways/freeways. There are even some full height speed bumps on some of the motorways themselves and it's very easy to hit them at too high a speed as well.

I think the roads here can really kill suspension and springs. And with the extreme heat (for example, getting three days in a row of 52.5ºC/126ºF, and having a quarter of the year where the daytime temps don't drop below 42ºC/107ºF) the road surface temps probably don't help with wear and tear either.

I'm seriously considering going Bilstein, was wondering about the difference in ride between the B14 and B16 - I think you can set the B16 to ride softer or harder, so was wondering how the B16 on it's softer settings would compare against the ride and handling of the normal B14.

good build quality. adjustable tube length so you choose a ride height that does no change spring load. 30 click dampening/ rebound adjustment so you can set the ride how you want it. Also a good price and easy install. only down side is to get the handling that came with the car you need to get the car corner balanced.

There is a warning in the manual for the PSS that some cars may require spacers. I'm running the 18" that my MY2006 came with
