Day at the drags - shooting for the MBWorld record!
My best time to date has been a 13.439
I'm GOING FOR BROKE!! I've got to find 1.5 tenths to get me into the 13.2X range. The plan is to hit the drags on October 10th.....I'll pray for a nice cool morning.

Take off the spare tire might help 0.05 sec!
Go on a diet for the next two weeks, hopefully you can trim down 5 lbs might help 0.02 sec!!
1/3 tank of gas might help 0.01 sec!
Let's see....what else can you do....go to the bathroom before the race might help another 0.01 sec!
Wala!!!!!! The above should add up to 0.14 sec, good enough to become the King of dragstrip!!!

NASCAR drivers use nitrogen in their tires.
Local COSTCO here in N. Miami has it. No charge for their customers.
Make sure that the rear tires are low: 25 lbs or less; - I'm not sure, may be 22 lbs?
Drive like you stole it!!
Gents,
I have been unsuccessful, this time. There are many excuses I could offer (high humidity, threat of rain, poor track conditions, MAJOR traction issues, etc.), but alas, I have nothing but the truth to report back:
My best time of the day was my first run: 13.456 (0.017 seconds short of my all-time best of 13.439). My 60' times ran a consistent 2.1-2.3
One thing to note: When I adjusted the tire pressure (as low as 21psi in the rears), my times got worse
13.683 and 14.083. So much for me having any success with the "speed tricks". On a positive note, I have now worn the rear tires even with the wear bars. I'm ready for the PS2s to go on
I'm "down", but not out. I'm running completely stock, down to the original air filters and tires (my car is 2.25 years old and 15K miles). Perhaps with some fresh rubber and a clean air filter (and a nice chilly day) , I can find the .2 seconds I've been searching for
Congrats!! These were impressive times considering the ambient conditions. With the cooler weather approaching, your best time might come between Thanksgiving and Christmas as a gift.
I am surprised at your low mileage. I just completed my 40k service. It seems, that it runs more powerful as time progresses, which could mean, that your best times will be in 2006/2007.
On the new tires, make sure you have a couple thousand miles on them before trying them on the track and pump up the fronts to 45psi.
Good luck!

I'm game for trying again in cool weather. My mileage is low cause the CLK is a second car for me. My 300CE serves as the daily transport.

Tires intended for pressure drop/drag use wrinkle up the side walls and grip insane when pressure is lowered.
It is likely that the outer areas L/R were hitting the pavement and the center section was losing grip.
Personally, I can't wait until I can run my car at the drags. I may try it in October if the track is still open.
PS what is your launching technique if you don't mind telling?I plan to run the C55 tomorrow at English Town.
