insulation tape actually works.
Well.. It won't happen with the paper filter because the outer layer is made of sponge like stuff.
Well... Since new filters are coming soon, I needed to prepare for the heat shield. I talked about this matter with prof.griff who I met at Boston Dyno. He told me that he has some crazy heat shield that you can put on and melt a penny on top of the hand and one won't fell any heat. But before I asked him, I had ordered the tape and used it on my car and went for a ride.
The good news is that ..
The heat was blocked by the heat shield. and the difference was quite big.
When I opened the hood outside at 58F degrees, the engine was at 100 (212F). The middle section cover of W209 CLK55 was hot( I didn't cover underneath) but the airbox area was cool.
When I brought it back instde the garge after a ride over 100mph and opened the hood, it felt like it's hot. So I took the cover out and touched it to see if it's really hot and it wasn't. It was the hot air that was trapped inside the hood while driving slowly around the garage.(no movement of air) There is nothing u can do about that.. After all the airboxs were still at the low temperature.
The point is that it works really well. and I will check up on the installation a couple days later and keep u all posted
