Guys,

Old thread I know but thought you may find this thread of interest as the 202/208 is common chassis/suspensions.

hi guys
lowered mine on the thinnest pads the dealer had and i was happy with that but after some time thought the back looks higher and to make it even i lowered the back with eibach springs with the same thinner pads still half inch higher checked the tyres and the tyres at the back werent in right size 235/40/18 on 9" wide rear wheels.
now bought 265/35/18 and hope will be good now, waiting to order the koni yellow dampers. and hope will be on level now.
i guess if you guys will try to lower your car on pads you would be happy.
good luck o all of you if you need any help from europe give me a shout.

i think in that thread from the 202 forum above there is part #s you just order from the dealer. i have a C43 and i just called them up and gave them the part numbers and they ordered them, this was bout 3 years ago now. in the states the springs were used on some models of E class, so they are not anything special really, just a MB part #. as time goes by i hope they are still available.

Thanks Dziner82! I called some dealerships and most places can only get the front spring which is directly shipped from Germany. The rear part number doesnt even come up at all and the guy stated he might be able to dig a bit deeper if I provided a VIN.

Fronts are 210 321 32 04 (man o man, they've gone up 80% in price over the past 10 years) and the rears are 208 324 02 04. The rears have never been available from US dealerships. Dealers cannot order them. If you give a parts guy at a US dealer a Euro spec VIN, the best parts guys will cross reference the rear springs to the US spec part. If you really want the springs, and you want to order them in the US, contact the Mercedes-Benz Classic Center in Irvine California.

Thanks MarcusF! Got off the phone with the classic center and they can only get the fronts. The guy I spoke to told me the rears were available until 05/31 of this year as per info on the computer. He ended up giving me a part #2103243404 for the rear which he stated was for the NA CLK55. Gert can get the rears so I think I'll just pick up the front set from the classic center and have Gert ship me the rears....whew!

Hello all

Still got my super low mile as new clk55amg

I wonder what are the correct part numbers for sure for Euro springs as it seems there is different part numbers posted here for the same parts if I read everything right

I also wonder if there is any differences in the shocks for US and Euro
One would think if the springs are different so should be the shocks

I would love to know the technical specs of all these springs if MB has a chart with the part numbers
Those differences in length with two springs being the same ....did they have the same number of coils, coil diameter ,amount of use etc
Wonder how much they settle and how many miles or time from new
Would love to know differences in spring rate NA to Euro front and rear

Thanks for the info

Marcus, hope you are doing well!

Still have your CLK? Mine has been tucked in the garage and still runs beautifully (53k miles). Cheers!

Hey Chappy

Any chance to post some close up photo that shows ride height of your clk 55 now that has settled all the way in years?

Do you like the 18s better than the originals for street driving?

I am trying to set up mine for the best possible ride and handling and I am at loss for spring rates and alignment specs
If anyone has the factory specs for rates and alignment for Europe. I can be good in setting up the car for high speed touring.

I am thinking of shipping it to Europe for a six month touring vacation for two with luggage
I got no use for it here in the US and is sitting in the garage with 30k on the clock but loved and serviced looking totally new

The idea of setting it up in Europe sounds expensive and I do not know if they would do it over there with US specs

I would love any comments from all here
Thanks

Mario

Please disregard my above post
Just got done reading it all now again and realized is all here but I have two questions

Obviously the euro springs are close to the same spring rate since they are shorter and ride similar to Us spec springs
Has anyone ever measured the spring diameter of the Euro springs?
If anyone has the euro springs and a micrometer for any reason it would be very easy to measure the wire diameter of the euro springs.
They linear so any spot will do

I could measure mine and that way we would all know which ones are firmer(higher spring rate) since the height makes no difference in spring rate but only wire diameter and amount of coils

Last from what everyone says here I am amazed
Is it true ?The 208 clk 55 amg has no ability for camber adjustments in stock form when you perform an alignment?....and the only adjustment is toe?

Hey Chappy, sorry I missed this earlier. I still have the CLK. Mine has about 230,000 miles on it, but runs great. When I get around to driving it, that is. It's got less than 4K in the past 2 years. I'm patiently waiting for the next gen E coupe. I've seen the interior and the front. If it comes with the 368 HP six and the 9 speed I'm in. Hope all is well.

Hey Chappy- I saw your ride in the picture thread and was about to ask if those are stock 17’s on Euro Spec springs but figured I’d check your post history first because you may have been “that guy” but I’m glad I didn’t because you definitely are!

I’ve read through the thread once back earlier this year but I can’t remember:
- Does this make your car out of “US Spec” requirements for states that require inspection, do you know? Maybe someone else can chime in.
- Last time I checked on this thread I saw people weren’t able to source the springs anymore through a dealer/if they went through a dealer, they would get the US spec. Do you know of anyone that could get their hands on some?
- Those are the stock 17’s, right?

Ill go back through the thread and see if I missed the answers to these. Taking delivery of a ‘02 this/next week and want to get it looking right with AMG spec parts.

Edit* just got done with the thread. Looks like I got the answers to the wheel side and US regard. Still looking to find if anyone has had success lately in finding these!

Per Marcus, try Mercedes-Benz Classic Center - or - a dealership in Europe.

I use the 17” factory wheels for Concours or the occasional autocross. I switch to 18s for street.

Hey Chappy, hope you are well!

Curious your wheel and tire specs for the 18” wheels? et’s specifically?

im lowered h&r looking to do 18” wheels ending with offset of 32/31 what are your thoughts on tire sizes?

I’d like absolutely no tire rub at all and for it to look like yours!

thanks

Qwik55,

I ran 2 sets of wheels (both the stock 17s and the 18” AMG Aero I, 2-piece wheels).

The specs on the 18s:
Front - 18 X 8.5 ET25, tire 225 40-18
Rear - 18 X 10 ET25, tire 255 35-18

Since you have aftermarket springs on your car, I can’t speak to an optimal tire size without any rubbing.
