First official pic of CLK63 Black Series...
I'm starting to consider buying an RS4. It has a nice wide body and only cost 70k.
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Car looks fantastic, I might have to pick one of these up.....
Can't wait to see all the little toys this thing has. If the SLK55 Black Series is any indicator it will be ready for the track.
Woo Hoo
i'm a huge clk fan, especially the w208. but i know that clk amg isn't in the same league as the GT2.
its definitely better than the m3 and rs4, but shouldn't cost twice as much.
Yes, a base GT3 is about 105K but by the time you get a steering wheel, seats, tires and decent brakes you will be at 130K+
The GT3RS (limited to about 350 or so) stickers with options for about 145K but you can't get your hands on one unless you ordered it a long time ago.
The 997 GT2 is not even released yet. It will be more....
Let's see, should a CLK63 Black Series cost twice as much as a M3 or RS4? I guess that it really depends on how it performs and what is under the sheet metal. To truly go quick on the track it needs some trick parts. The fact that it is sporting 9" rims up front is a good starting point.
Once all the details are out we will see just how trick it may or may not be.
Seems like a baby CLK DTM for half the cost. Well worth it from my perspective. Needs to be really limited in production.
Ciao
With 100 hp less than SL65 but llighter by 1300+ lbs (3880 vs 5258 lbs) this car outperforms SL65. But "lower" in class.
Well, come to think about it, if I were to spend the money on one of these, I wouldn't think twice about which one I'd chose.
Base price in the 90's US $. Pricing due tomorrow.
Porsche GT3's base is 106K but most of the dealers are loading them up to the 130's. The GT3 RS which I had on order was going to be 149K and the dealer wanted a 35K market adjustment.
Porsche is only making 220 RS's and I thought that would be a nice piece, but its more track than street.I think the CLK 63 black series will be killer for track days. I wish it was a little lighter and we had the euro seats but the extra cooling for trans and power streering as well as engine means it's serious. Funny, I wasn't this excited about the porsche.
i see the clk black series as a car that's made for the track. that's why i'm comparing it with the m3 and rs4.
m3 is known to do great things in the track, and rs4 is almost as good.
if the black series will cost twice as much, then it should be a better track car.
i personally think it will have the same performance as the m3, but should still cost 30k more because its a better looking car in and out. not sure why it would cost more?
If the Black edition was as cheap in my country as it is in the US, I would not hesitate for one moment. This car will probably cost between 350 and 400k usd here in Norway. That`s just a bit to much.... But it will sell here too...

This may be the best looking CLK ever. I'll take one in blue.
Yes, it is debateable if any CLK is worth GT3 money, especially if they are both strictly two-seaters. We'll see how MB markets this car; if they are only looking to sell a few, price and performance won't be an object to a few collectors. If MB is really looking to take some market share from BMW, Audi, and Porsche, the price will have to be under $100k.
I've really liked seeing this car pace F1 for the last couple seasons...hope the price is reasonable. That they brought a finished US-spec car to New York rather than a 'concept' is promising.
