Would any of you not buy this car because of it (or not). I am kinda pissed there is not going to be one offered (back seat). I guess the purists's will say that is a wait saving thing but what do you guys think? I have a 2 yr old and a baby due in july and believe it or not a 911 TT has more utilty for me than a CLK without a backseat. looks like I will stick to the origianl plan.http://www.mercedes-amg.com/CLK_Black_Series/

People wouldn't buy this car for its practicality, but rather its exclusiveness.
If I were to buy this car, I wouldn’t hesitate because it didn’t have backseat, because again, I wouldn’t be looking to get a sensible car with room in the back for kids.
For twice the price, you can have both in the new CL65. Room and superiority.

I'd buy it without a back seat, this car is hardly a daily driver IMO....BTW have fun with the TT, I was at ths Porsche sport driving school 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed the NA 911's the Turbo must be a gas!! Now all you need is a carbon fiber child seat !!

I don't think you could fit a family of four in this car even if it came with rear seats. I'm in the same boat as you, child wise. I have the W208 & when my daughter was in the infant car seat the front passenger seat had to be so far forward my wife couldn't fit comfortably. Now that my daughter is older it works OK, because her car seat is smaller. We have our second due in May & I don't think I'll even try to get all four of us in the car.

It could be possible to do both car seats in the rear without a front passenger if you aren't tall, but I'd pass.

I think this car without a backseat would make the owner very happy!

I would ask her why it has to be possible to get the kids in it ? You already have an E55, Cayenne, CL600.. do the kids have to ride in every car you have ?

Oh you raise a interesting question. Does anyone know if the CLK63 Black is only going to be made using the W209 body or will they continue it with the new body style coming out next year?

Yes it would cause the new new clks look like ****..... headlights reminds me of a hyundai.... ugh. I would get the new cl before this anyday (there visually identical imo except for those ugly headlights - CL looks 100x better)

CLK

CL

Truth is this car (CLK BLACK ED) is intended for a select few who wouldn't care about practicality because thats not what you buy this car for. This car is for preformance, exclusivity, and collectors.

Having said that, it will never go out of style so i dont think you could screw yourself over by buying it while a new model is comming out soon.

Black Series FTW

That is nothing but a bad chop and far from the real thing. Way too early to declare what the next CLK looks like.

Mercedes should have kept the backseats. I wouldn't get it just for that. But then again, like someone else said this is no daily driver. But for the estimated $150,000 price, I'd shell out a little more green and go for a Gallardo. Since this would have to be a sunday car, why not go for the exotic that makes everybody ? If you want a track car, I bet a 911 GT3 is better.

I still think this CLK looks very hot though and I'm sure its a show-stopper in person.

I don't see why MB couldn't put a rear seat in the USA version. Afterall, we're not getting the cool racing seats that didn't look like it had a mechanism for flopping forward for rear access. I don't see where the USA version is getting the carbon fiber door panels either.

I heard 135 lol

Yes there's different versions.... US will not get Carbon fiber doors and Fabric racing seats.

here's a deal.

Racing seats and carbon doortrim is for the European version. US regulations made it not possible to make both models identical!

ROW-spec racing seats and CF door panels means no seat deformation or side impact airbags, hence the US cars get standard door panels and conventional seats.

Same deal over in Porsche GT3/GT3RS land.

Those seats are awesome. As are the carbon door panels. The Euros really torture us by not letting the good stuff come over seas. Even the Audi RS4 is lacking stuff from the Euro version.

The back seat should be a no cost option. IMHO take away the back seat and you feel kind of stupid not driving a 911 or a Cayenne. This will be a great CLK but compared against two seat sports cars or even those with joke back seats like the 911, Black Clack will be just somewhere in the pack.

I would play to MB's stengths and make it a great 4 seat GT car. Sport and luxury. Ditch the Dracula black trim and bring on the designo leather and wood and all the toys. This is a car that will kick a Ferrari 456 hard, not to mention a 63 CLS.

You only go around once, so put on your Gucci loafers (or Santonis) when stepping into (or 'round ) the (')ring.

Do you think we are going to be able to order the cf door trim from amg and install it after the fact?

People who buy the black series aren't interested in comfort...they know what they are gettin and get it cause they want it like that...

May I say Street Legal Race Car? It's not made for a family outings. If I could afford one, I would get one for sure! It's not like it would be your only car, is it?
