The CLk 63 Be has a seven speed auto with speed shift. It has an improved shift program according to amg's gurus. It is not a smg.

From what I've read, believe it or not, the C63 (even if it is the lowest 63 AMG) is the first, and currently only AMG model that matches revs on the downshifts.
I imagine eventually they'll incorporate that into the higher-end models - it may even just be a TCU upgrade, I don't know.

Do you have anything additional to report regarding the transmission upgrade?
Last word that I heard was that M-B had dropped the idea because the reprogramming was either too complex and/or expensive for them to pursue this any further.
Do you have any progress from your research?

I've been talking to the guy who runs the Private Lounge site. LAst time we spoke he was in Germay at AMG and said he would personally submit my request again. That's all I know right now....

LZH,
Perhaps we (read as "you" if you have the AMG relationship! ) could organize a petition of BS owners just to let them know how many valued BOS owners desperately want this updgrade.
Whaddya think????

AMG considered the retrofit, but deemed the effort too expensive (and the market too small (cost amortization?)) so I doubt in these economic times there will be a change of attitude.
It is no big deal either way! Just adapt to the way the transmission works, and it won't limit you on the track in any way.

I'm still a noob at mercedes tuning but I can't imagine how hard it would be to do the retrofit? Unless there's some real big differences in either hardware or software between the BS and the C63?
I agree it's not a big deal, but the general consensus amongst owners and journalists is that BS is an awesome car, but with better transmission management it'll be on another level-or, as EVO said, the trans is the only thing holding BS from greatness.

I would be happy to compile a list of owners who might be interested in this upgrade. I'll start a seperate thread and an submit a letter to my contact at AMG. I know they said they would not do this, but it seems like they may reconsider and the more owners we get the better our chances may be.

No, I am not being pessimistic, just realistic. When the BS was launched and "hot" this was a possibility; now they have moved on, the interest has waned.
It was considered and thought to be possible, until the costs were calculated, and then reality set in. Customers were polled and not willing to pay the significant upcharge.
I wish it weren't so, but in the grand scheme of the BS the rev matching is a nit. Most drivers don't even come near the limits already in the car.
Hell, most people with manual transmissions can't even rev match, why do you think Ferrari sells so many F1 cars (to the poseurs)?
It is more about balancing the weight (and emphasis should be there) and maintaining momentum, rather than on aural pretentiousness.]
