CLK63/Black vs. BMW M6: Video

I think the M6 is about the best "direct comparison" out there, and the Edmunds test hits the nail on the head with regards to why I wouldn't buy an M6 (though I can see why some would) but am in love with the CLK63 Black.
For me, what sets the car apart is the combination of dead-serious performance with reasonable comfort for "normal" use and the fun-quotient of RWD handling characteristics -- along with the absence of most electronic BS (like iDrive). I think the Black will go down as one of the great driver's cars. Though they didn't really "track" the cars, the CLK63 Black demonstrates superior performance in every category they tested.

Its a good comparison to a point. I think its a little unfair, though. They're comparing a very limited production car (that costs more) with a readily available vehicle. What would happen if BMW introduced a limited production CSL version of the M6?
On top of that the M6 is a GT vehicle that is a good daily and long haul driver, the Merc is not.
That said, I am dumping my M6 for a CLK63 Black Series. I can tell you it was a little more difficult to buy this Mercedes than I anticipated. It took 3 months to get a firm order with Mercedes. I ordered it in Obsidian Black, which I'm a little unsure of. My M6 is black and it looks a little odd with the carbon fiber roof. The contrast isn't enough and the carbon fiber ends up looking like a faded black paint job from a distance.
Seems that porsche's published weights for the GT3 are not matching the real world weights. Rennlist posts indicate that the RS's are coming in at
3260 and the GT3 are a hundred more.
If you include the european standized method that amg uses, the published weight of the CLK 63 black includes 90% full fuel tank, 165 lbs driver and 20lbs of luggage. Adding the driver and luggage puts the porsche GT3 about 500lbs lighter not 1000.
Carbon door panels, shell seats and long tube headers drop the weight about 200 lbs on the Clk.

I thought about going the route of a 997 GT2, but that thing will sticker at $191k and I don't know if my dealer is even going to get one, as there will only be around 65-70 that make their way to the U.S.
The problem is, I may have waited too long now to even get a CLK63Black.
