Black Series Available

[QUOTE=MarcusBenz;2416780][QUOTE=fickleone;2416694]If you had a Dealer's license, maybe, but otherwise a lot of hassle to avoid Sales tax etc.!
Does Marcus Benz still have the car at MSRP?
I have one Red/Black car left, we sold the other car.
As always, Black and Silver will be the hot colors, and White will have its selected fans (including me). In fact, I like all the colors, but Red might be the reason that car is sitting, it takes a special customer.
Did you sell the other car at MSRP? What color was it?

I own a 599GTB Fiorano and a 430 Coupe. I guess I'll have to drive a B.S. first but I doubt very much there are meaningful similarities. Maybe when I finally drive the B.S. I'll surprise myself and rescind my comments here but I doubt it. The 599 in particular is the best car I've ever owned.

I'm sorry, I don't believe this happened.QUOTE]
It happened, it is easy to sit behind a screen and cast aspersions! Nobody is predicting (or expecting) fantastic future value, and the car market is "local". Right now (actually last week-end) the demand was hot...but it is a fickle world.

Do yourself (and the readers) a favor, suspend your doubts and withold your opinions until you have a valid basis to support them. That way you might come accross as credible.

Moved my deposit to a C63
I've had a deposit on a CLK-BS since April 07. I couldn't wait for my BS to arrive, but now that its almost here, I've decided it's way more than I want in terms of price and daily drivability. Today I moved my deposit from the BS to an early 08' delivery of a C63. I can't imagine this could be a dissapointment, saving almost $70 grand....and I'm gaining a back seat with doors too.

If gaining a rear seat and back doors is a win for you, then you missed the point of the Black Series to begin with.
The C63 sounds like it will be a fantastic car!

Again, a paper opinion or a mental perception of something you haven't tried doesn't carry much weight. I have tracked both the 599 and 430, I have nothing negative to say about either of them, but I do have good things to say about the Black Series and the surprise it delivers. It is in good company on the performance /value scale.
Now you claim, quite conveniently, to have "tracked" -- not just driven -- both a 599 and a 430. If you say it's so there can be no doubt!
However, had I taken your approach, I would have not only claimed I had driven a Black Series, I would have gone so far as to claim I had "tracked" one too! But the problem with that is it's not the truth and I feel sad for people who resort to making things up to prove a point.
See, when you're on the internet, it's easy to write anything because while there may be a spell check, there is no "truth check".
P.S. In a few weeks, on October 6 and 7, the Alfa Club is renting the track at Road America -- all makes are invited if you pay your way and sign the waiver. I'll be there with at least two cars. It's a great low key event. And you can actually track your car at a challenging road course!

Are you still claiming to have been offered $20K over list for your used car by a dealer? You did not respond. Anyway...

I admitted that I had not driven a Black Series. I'm not going to claim a fact that is not. Although I can't wait to drive the car and maybe even track it!

BTW, can someone here explain an easier way to shrink the photos because I have to copy the photo from M.S. Viewer and then go into Power Point and manually shrink the photo which seems to distort the photo (and it takes forever)? Or I'll have to wait until this evening and I'll have my 16 year old help me post more photos!
Both F cars come from Lake Forest Sports Cars in Lake Bluff, IL where I have been a long time customer. Turbo comes from Internatonal Auto in Milwaukee. GT comes from Court Street Ford in Kankakee, IL.
Not sure what I'm taking to Road America ...decisions, decisions! I admit, I'm truly blessed I thank God every day.
Edit: Upload did not work. If someone -- who is not a computer dunce like me -- can show me, it would be appreciated.

Would be curious how precise/engaging/well-sorted a 4000lb CLK63BS feels around a track vs GT3RS....and vs the early '08-arriving Scuderia.....
And how adeptly BS paddleshifters work in manual mode on track....esp in context of an alleged track-oriented car w/a peripherally-placed, small tach (identical size to a "valuable" analog clock in the dash)....
For daily use, have doubts re: any car w/tires that aren't optimal for even CA winter rains; ground clearance issues; and a plasticky and ancient CLK interior....and not confident re: passive safety of any ancient-tech CLK, esp if rear-ended on a fast, urban freeway...or a frontal collision in mountain twisties (IMO, 599's only fatal flaw for daily use on public roads is dubious passive safety)....
Suspect CLK BS will have a steep depreciation curve after, for ex., 1yr/15K mis of use, if compared to GT3 or Scud.....so its value proposition seems "challenged", esp given its potentially compromised track and daily-useability....
That said, very much appreciate direction of AMG in terms of engineering cars w/greater focus on steering/chassis/braking precision/finesse....am looking forward to any SL63BS in Spring.....as one w/zero interest in tracks (but an addict for wkend mtn twisties driving and daily commuting via AMG, even in rain) hope SL63BS has adequate ground clearance for CA hills/urban settings....and wet public road-compatible perf tires....

Bravo. Until you drive one, your opinion of the car and its abilities is nothing more than bench racing.

Just becasue I agree with another members well written opinion of your bench racing, does not mean we're related. Until you drive one, your opinion means nothing. I own a BS, and guess what....have tracked it, too. I've also tracked a friends F430 coupe. My friend and I both agreed the BS is better on the track and around town. Sure, it doesn't have the F-Car WOW factor....but it's a Mercedes.

And we should put stock in your opinion and your brother "Fickleone"? -- the same two guys who claim that people are walking up you at restaurants throwing money and checks at you for your car at $20K over list?
Come on man, grow up. You sound like my 4 year old when you say: "and guess what" and "My friend and I both agree..." It's laughable... "My dad can beat up your dad..." LOL.
You guys have already proved you're willing to write anything to prove a point. It's pathetic.
