Very well Sascha as I hope for you.

To support your highly valuable tip on driving w/o TC, I recently had a new Boxster at CotA for a weekend.
I noticed after session 2 that TC was on, so I turned it off for session 3...
DOH!
The outcome is predictable.

No offense, but after watching the video and seeing you completely lose it on the backstretch, blow past the ZL1 and then go careening off the track on the next turn, I think he was more concerned about avoiding you then catching you.

You were definitely pulling ahead of that ZL1 easily!

What caused you to spin out and the missed turn after the backstraight?

Were the brakes done by then or just driving the car too hard?

What caused that?

I think I was a little aggressive on the exit following that 991 GT3. Couldn't catch it unfortunately! It was maybe a couple of 360 can't remember as I was just crapping myself every time I see the wall! Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
The second time I was just pushing it stupidly after my spin off! Brakes where fine I was just too late getting on them, and the track has great run off so I usually just go out whenever I am too late on the brakes. This was the GP track it was great fun and the whole footage was two minutes of a three hour day. I put 140 km that day till I finished my tank and never lost the brakes or ran Oil above 130 c.

I may have missed it but have you installed stainless steel brake lines?

120km is about 75mph, that's a weird error message. Do you get that message on regular street/freeway driving with ESP off?

Does your wheels have the TPMS sensors?

IIRC, at the AMG Private lounge under "coaching zone" there are videos describing certain track tips from the AMG guys.

One of them that I remember must be 3 years old or more and it's about how to brake with an AMG.
Bottom line is just stand on it, hard and then lift when necessary. There was no finesse involved, just muscle.

I think the braking system may react differently when you stab it hard initially.

I agree it does react differently if the initial application is a hard stab on the pedal. When I was doing Pro @ Leguna with the SLS, I keep messing up turn 2 because I was to aggressive on the initial application of the brake. I was literally standing up in my seat as the BAS/ABS system fought my input. This resulted in a very bad line going way to deep into turn 2. After I realized what was going on, I did a slower but firm steady brake application and the SLS slowed down faster than I anticipated.

It's not an error message, yep you just get it in regular street and with ESP OFF no difference. I think it's the GCC spec which is boring!

My wheels don't have TPMS, this wasn't in the spec of my car

Tell me more about steel brake lines? As this is exactly what I was thinking the beggining end "soft" felt like the brake lines are expanding could this be the case?

Tabs on the left side of the page, pick media, then coaching zone.

It may be a US only site, it was a few years ago.

So what was the difference you felt when you changed to steel? Did you face this soft travel in the beggining of breaking? Did you loose this feeling?

When I change to SS on my W210 it made a significant difference in the pedal feel and control in modulating brake application. The pedal was firm and consistent all the time with heavy or light brake usage.

I currently have a soft squish pedal feel after a few track days (and regular street/freeway) with my CLK63BS that still have the rubber brake lines. I bought the StopTech SS lines but haven't had a chance to install it yet. I expect the SS lines will provide the same pedal feel like my W210 after a proper brake bleeding to get any air out of the brake system.

I used Motul RBF 600 fluid also with my W210. They have a RBF 660 now that I may use on the CLK63BS.

Hope that helps!

Beautiful track......you were obviously distracted by the music your wife left on in the car and then broke the radio so you couldn't change it.

You mentioned you were at COTA. Don't forget that it was designed to be a F1 track, as such it is a low grip surface. We ran our 08' RSR there and had to change to a softer compound at the front to kill the understeer.

Did you install the SS brake lines?

Why does RPM not register on the vbox?
