TPMS?

The Black Series does not have TPMS but I thought all '08 MY cars were required to have it. Was it because of limited production that they were allowed not to?

I don't think that all 2008's are required to have TPMS, I thought that goes into effect in 2010 or even 2012, but I might be mistaken.

No TPMS?

I'm confused.

My CLK63 Black Series has tire pressure monitoring.

It does not display individual tire pressures for each wheel, but does notify you if there is a drop in pressure below some (unknown to me) specified percentage of a pre-set pressure.

You can access this feature by using the buttons on the left side of the steering wheel.

Lets see: Mismatching wheels, possible TPMS. fender indentations. Looks like all of our cars are one of a kind.

Mine doesn't have it either. Does anyone know if the car is supposed to have it? I wonder if cars delivered in 2007 don't have it and cars delivered in 2008 do have it.

Some black series have it, some don't, according to HRE. Doesn't matter what year the car was delivered. Found out when I changed my wheels . So I monitor them the old fashioned way....

Am I going to have to read the manual to figure out if mine has it?

Bummer, since I didn't even have to figure out where to put the key!

Just want to chime in a little bit....

If your TPMS doesn't show the actual psi and this TPMS works the same way as my bimmer, I think it's useless. Why? There was one instance when I forgot to check the tire pressure for like 3 months or so.... the original pressure (when I checked last time) was 32f/39r, and when I checked it again it was 28f/34-35r. ~4psi drop all around. The indicator still shows "green"

I think all TPMS may just monitor "sudden" drop. If it's just normal psi drop (~1psi per month), TPMS wouldn't catch it.

My '05 E55 shows the psi numbers... so while it won't give me any warning, it's easier for me to see the actual psi (even though my handheld tire pressure gauge tells ~1psi higher than shown ).

Do you guys with Black Series TPMS see "live" data - ie, exact pressure per corner or is this just a dummy gauge ?

The system does not show actual tire pressures as the TPMS does in my CL55.

The TPMS on the CLK63 Black Series is designed to display a warning message if there is a deviation from a previously set baseline pressure. I have not seen the warning message displayed, so I do not know if the message indicates the position of the low tire, or not. It may just warn you that you have a low tire, and then it's up to you to get the gauge out and find which one it is.

My display just says that the TPMS is active and gives me the option to reset it.

I honestly don't think mine has TPMS, I was never charged by Evosport for a new set of TPMS wheels sensors for my Dymags, and I'm sure they would not have forgotten about charging me for $300.00 worth of sensors. I have never gotten any warning on my gauges even when at the drag strip aired down to 23 pounds of pressure. The stock wheels are still mounted and balanced with the factory valve stems.

I have it and paid for sensors on my second set of rims. The display is just "low pressure" and doesn't give 4 corner pressures as Porsche does. I find that annoying, as having all 4 tires down 3 lbs. is not important to me, but knowing I have one tire down 8 lbs. is important.
Even more puzzling is Audi which does it the Mercedes way, while the VW Toureg does it the Porsche way. All three are essentially owned by Porsche.AS

JCart - you probably don't. I have accessed every option in my dash menu and there is NADA for tires.

I was told that all 2008's have a basic form of TPMS by one wheel turning faster then the others from the smaller circumference, when it has low pressure.
