I've said it before and i'll say it again, CLK BS is still the best bang for your buck unless you're super rich and can have both. You're

My dealer's two allocated 65 Blks are already spoken for by longstanding custs....and have a couple of colleagues who are ahead of me to obtain any extra 65 Blks that our dealer may be allocated....

From what I gather, all the guys ahead of me at my dealer are current/prior owners of 599/Scud (as well as numerous AMGs), so 65 Blk clearly commands respect among a jaded crowd....

Not sure what price would make it a go/no-go for me....look fwd to driving impressions of jaded guys (not worthless journalists), esp vs 599....to better judge value....

599 sells for some $400K; is a brilliant, daily-useable 4000lb perf coupe, but has abysmal passive safety engineering....perhaps one needs to value one's safety/health as worth a few dollars....

Besides, in my expce, 65s get some 1-2 MPG more than 63s....so this is a more eco-friendly car....always pleasurable driving a car w/V12 Biturbo badges in the land of Prius/Tesla-driving, G550-flying "environmentalists"....

I would not get rid of my CLK Black to buy anything, but I did think about picking up an SL BS as an addition, as recently as about a week ago I was talking to my dealer to see if they had ordering info yet on the SL BS, but as I stated in a thread earlier today $320K plus for that SL is insane...and thats from a guy that has over $205K and still counting wrapped up in his CLK BS. If it debuts in the $225k-$250k range I am in, I'll have one of the first ones in the country as was the case with my current BS. Besides that my ZR1 will be here in a matter of only weeks, I need to focus on one project car at a time

As for whom ever said their dealerships allocated 2 BS are already spoken for, I doubt that is the case but give me a call if you want one of the first ones in the country at MSRP, my local dealership is one of the largest in the country, they are ordering exactly ZERO of these cars because they have exactly ZERO interest from buyers, They were hoping I would be game for one. Even the auto brokers that try to gobble up special, new and limited production cars and sell them for a huge mark-up have said this car is going to be a dud. My dealership said that when cars the the Maybach and SLR and even the SL65's were released they had brokers lined up on waiting lists, they have not fielded a single call from a broker on this car, even before the INSANE pricing was released. If the ****** are not even lined up for these things yet nobody is going to be. These "******/brokers" are the ones who get cars for the pro athletes, musicians and Hollywood actors, if their clients are not asking for these cars nobody is.

Don't get me wrong, the SL BS is awesome looking and the performance is going to be out of this world, but I don't think the world is ready for another overpriced Mercedes supercar (the first one being the sales dud SLR)

I'm not a buyer. The CLK BS is about all I can use, and I'd like to use it up. If I already had 150,000 miles on it, my decision process MIGHT be different. I'm perfectly happy to take a $138,000 car and frive it til its worth $30,000. I'm not sure I would do the same for a $300,000 car. AS

At this level, I would rather put up the additional $60K and get a Carrera GT.
$250K is max I would consider on the SL BS. I suspect a $50-$60K depreciation within 8 months on it anyways.

I spoke with my dealerships GM yesterday and he made several calls and reassured me that although prices have not been officially released that the SL65BS will MSRP for under $300k...I guess we will have to wait a couiple more weeks for official word.

In SoCal there is some interest, but with mortgage guys out of the picture, I doubt anyone will be able to get much over MSRP.

Lets see what the true MSRP will be first.

I find this hard to belive that Mercedes will price this car over 250k. I dont think anyone should pay more 250k for it. I would also like mercedes to number there car and include a coa stating that there will be only 200 made.

The CLK BS at $138k is about a 53% mark-up over a CLK63. The same mark-up on a SL65 gets you to $287k.
