Exclamation 2008 CLK Black Series -- Desperate To Sell, 2 of Them!

Hi all,

A friend of mine who works at Mercedes Benz of Encino in the Los Angeles area has 2 CLK Black Series that he is trying to get rid of and seems like he is a bit desperate to make a deal on them.

One is a Black on White & the other is Silver on Black. He is ready to give MSRP for them but am sure he can work with you and bring the price down even lower since he gave me my C63 at 1,500 below MSRP.

If you are interested then just drop me a PM and I will put you in direct contact.

Thanks!

Merc-Skycap

Note to mods: Not sure if this is the right place for this but wanted to people who are interested in CLK Black Series to see this post. Thank You!

They probably both have black interior since its the only interior color the BS was available with.

Sorry as I am, he'll probably have to MUCH better than MSRP at this point if he wants to sell them especially sell them quickly quickly.

Congrats on your C63. If your friend is desperate to sell his 2 BSs, he will unfortunately have to go somehwere closer to 15 to 20k below sticker, as the market is extremely soft for these and most other cars of this caliber.

No one has paid MSRP in months. New cars are going for 20k off window.

Are they that ready to sell? Knowing Encino... I say no!

No offense, but what a joke. "He is ready to give MSRP"... He should have been ready to do that months ago. He's not the only dealer with them in stock in So. Cal...

Well, isn't the MSRP at about 135 for these? Most dealers sell the same car for 140 or so grand. I don't really know since I am happy with my C63. lol

I just thought that I would be of help to someone who wants the CLK BS.
If you believe that the price should be lower then I can put you in contact and you guys can work it out. I brought him down to 1,500 below on mine and it is a hot car.

Right now, I'd say that recovering his dealer cost would be very fortunate. The cars are about to be a year old. Anybody know what the dealers actually paid?? AS

138k - 7% = cost. There is a hold back the factory pays out when you sell a unit and that 2-3%. But that car is in his flooring line of credit for 138k - 7%.

He wont recover his cost. They are going to end up at auction or sold for 110k or less. New CLK comes out not to far into next year so they better move them soon or its going to be a blood bath!

That would be an awsome deal for future CLK BS owners.

I paid MSRP early last Sepember, mine was one of the first ones shipped to the US. Those cars should be able to be had for $18K under MSRP....I guess there is a reason they are still sitting on them

Stopped by my local MB dealer in Sarasota for some parts. Salesman came up to me, started a conversation. We got into a CLK63 BS dicussion. He mentioned those cars are moving very, very slow right now. (Did not ask price.)

I think if you walked in with a bank check for $105,000, you 'd walk out with a deal (and owe the tax), either this month or next.
Reminds me of 1974/75 when i wanted a new Pantera L. Price on the window was something like $12,500. My $10,000 offer was declined. I told the dealer I'd call back in a month. One month later, I called back, and they accepted the original offer. This time I said, "with a radio", as the cars came from the factory without radio or antenna.
The similarity of that time to this was the gas crisis, inflation concerns, and speed limits enforced for fuel savings.
Bought that car. loved it, drove it, and sold it for $14,500 a few years later when I needed to build a house.
In that interval. I turned down a Lusso (which couldn't get around the block), a Ferrari 365 2+2 with a crunch in the trans on upshifts to third, and an Iso Grifo, all of which were in the same price range. Oh well. AS

With or without 8-Track? Did you also ask them to throw in the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack?

Or was that 1976? I forget....been so long.

Driving home from wine tasting in San Ynez last Saturday evening (on the 101 -- passing through Woodland Hills) I did see a white black series and it had new car MB of Encino paper plates. They may have sold the car that was in the showroom for ages. Wonder what it sold for.

Amazing car and I really love it in white. The car I was driving suddenly felt quite diminutive.

Encino sold a bucket of cars last month and I hear they blew them all out just to move inventory. Economy like this = quite a time to buy cars at an amazing discount.

There's 2 local to me in Nor Cal. One at RAB that has been available since last year, and one at Fletcher Jones in Fremont. There's a used one locally as well that has been on sale for months. If I didn't love my E55 so much, I would have considered trading it in.

All higher end units are devaluating quicker. When I was pricing my BS last August I was given an invoice call at or around 128k (gross of holdback) and here are some more recent auction sales.

These arent necessarily prices available to the public although some can manage to get to these numbers. For perspective:

07/24/08 MANHEIM Regular $103,000 768 Avg BLACK 8G A No
07/24/08 MANHEIM Regular $98,500 362 Avg BLACK 8G A No
06/19/08 RIVRSIDE Regular $107,000 4,822 Avg BLACK 8G A No
06/19/08 ATLANTA Regular $96,000 3,741 Avg Silver NON A No
06/03/08 FAAO Regular $100,000 5,202 Avg WHITE 8G A No
05/15/08 MANHEIM Regular $110,000 505 Avg BLACK 8G A No

Autotrader.com is notorious for its overpriced dealer asking prices but you can find a new white one for 2k over invoice as advertised here. Im sure you could walk in and easily drop this price in a big way.

Click Here for the new white one

Here is a used black one with 4k miles, dealer asking 118 which means they took it in on trade for much less IMO

Click here for the Black one

No expensive car is going to maintain values except for Ferrari and few others, so this isnt a knock on the BS as its arguably the best Benz out there for real enthusiasts who like to drive.

Could you explain the shorthand?

Vic,

Thanks for posting the info from the Manheim Auctions.

I was wondering if you might be able to explain the shorthand that they use in displaying the sales prices?

07/24/08 MANHEIM Regular $103,000 768 Avg BLACK 8G A No
07/24/08 MANHEIM Regular $98,500 362 Avg BLACK 8G A No
06/19/08 RIVRSIDE Regular $107,000 4,822 Avg BLACK 8G A No
06/19/08 ATLANTA Regular $96,000 3,741 Avg Silver NON A No
06/03/08 FAAO Regular $100,000 5,202 Avg WHITE 8G A No
05/15/08 MANHEIM Regular $110,000 505 Avg BLACK 8G A N

I presume the first Item is the Date of Sale, the second is the Location (Don't know where Manheim or FAAO are), no idea what Regular refers to, regarding the prices shown - are there additional fees that the purchasing deG?aler has to pay?, Avg - does this mean "Average Condition"?, next is the color, 8G? or NON?, A?, No or N?

Thanks in advance, for taking the time to help out an auction novice.

Can't help with most of what you ask but Manheim is the auction in PA (they do a highline auction day).

You are right in regards to the auction, regular is the type of sale (no biggie), avg is not for condition but it relates to pricing even though it falls under condition at the website. If you see lower prices then it might get a "below" rating and if you see higher prices you might see an "above" but you will never see a "below" above an "average" and an "average" above an "above" in relation to sale prices. Color is self explanatory and the 8 denotes the amount of cylinders and the "G" denotes gas vs maybe a diesel engine. The one with NON was miskeyed IMO and the final part, the NO is some in sample thing which I dont know about.
