Another Evosport CLK63 Black Series (White) Project...

Thought I'd share a few shots of another Black Series we completed. Honestly, the demand for Black Series products has been overwhelming. Anyone who has visited us in the last couple months will see 2-3 Black Series here at any given time getting ready for work to be done. You'd think they made 2,000+ of them

Whoa!!

Why is it in the first pic the car is sporting a Dymag rims and then on the other pics it's using the stock rims but painted in black?

Also do you have a complete list of modifications done to this car? Almost looks like another Jcart in the making except in White.

The white calipers with red AMG lettering looks good.

On performance side: ECU Upgrade, Headers, Upgraded Plug Wires, Cams, Power Pulleys, Exhaust just to name a few. We can do a lot more if we had the car here as well.

PULLEY??????????????????????????????????How the heck did this guy manage to get a pulley out of you guys and I have been waiting nearly 10 months longer than him and I still don't have my pulley that I was promised?

CAMS????????????????????????????????????Did you guys just whip up a set of cams in under 2 weeks? I had an extensive conversation with Bob, Brad and Gary exactly 2 weeks ago about cams as well as heads and they told me you guys had not developed any cams yet and they wanted me to ship them the extra set of cores I have obtained and that it would take at least 10 weeks. Something is not jiving with their/your story(s).

Let Brad or Bob know I'm expecting a phone call and explaination this morning.

......................not happy!

Much like the wheels, it depended on when the pics were taken. Yes, it is the same car.

What kind of performance gains?
While we were able to get a pre-dyno on the car, this particular car would not let us do a post dyno. We've seen similar issues on other vehicles where a torque limiter would kick in when the wheel speed sensors detect rear wheel spin above a certain power while the front wheels are stationary. But based on our data logging, if we extrapolate the data, the car should be making 500+ RWHP. Which is also supported by previous cars we've done similar mods on where we did get a post dyno.

The exhaust is top notch.
Thank you. Yes, the exhaust is built in our fabrication facility and it's even prettier in person!

what's the driveline loss?......if 20%, could you extrapolate the HP at the crank to be around 600HP?

Typically 17-18%. There's no question this car is making over 600 HP at the flywheel. If I recall, jcart's car last dyno'd at 502.4 RWHP with our mods which (even at 17% loss) is about 605 HP.

I think I saw this Black Series at Evosport during one of my visits. They really do have quite a few Black Series circulating through the shop and it is hard to keep track of all of them.

I must say the car looked incredible in person and sounded godly at WOT. It's a very very quick car

im pretty sure he was talking about the mods to the CLK BS. it clearly says "63" power pulley... jr you need the pulley and cams so you can continue your journey to the 10's!!

Okay, maybe I am slow but dont get it. The CF wheels added 30hp right? How does that HP get extrapolated to the flywheel? In other words if one assumes the 500 flywheel factory rating is accurate and the stock car hits the dyno, it should end up getting about 410 RWHP which is right about what your dyno run shows for Jimmy's car. If I did nothing to the engine at all but added your wheels, would I be able to lay claim to ~530 flywheel hp without even opening the hood!!!

Rhetorical question but just the same, I have seen Jimmy's car run at the strip in person. It is an awsome machine and the workmanship is top notch. I like even more that it has inspired a bunch of guys to come to your shop and lay down some serious ching to make an already fast car just that much faster.

A chassis dyno does not measure power at the flywheel. If you were to remove the engine and run it on an engine dyno you would get what the manufacturer rates the power to be or somewhere in that range. However, in the real world (and I'm not talking bragging rights), the true power a car puts down is at the rear wheels (which is what's important) after you factor in drivetrain loss and any loss to rotational mass from objects like wheels/tires. So technically the car does not make 500hp, it makes ~410. More so, the power from a carbon wheel is not gained per se, it merely recaptures what otherwise is lost energy to drive greater rotational mass. Much the same way an underdrive pulley would work. But regardless, since the gain occurs at the rear wheels, well after the flywheel, it wouldn't be correct to claim it there.

So for simplicity you can certainly tell your buddy the car makes 530hp, although technically as you eluded to that would not be correct. But in the real world, REAR WHEEL HP is more important than what's made at the flywheel.
