ZR1

Stopped by my Chevy dealer today. They claim they are getting a ZR1 for “stock”, i.e., no one ordered it. But it didn’t come in today. Has anyone secured one for MSRP?

That doesn't seem likely. Buying one at MSRP is next to impossible at this time. Believe me. I've been jerked around by a dealer saying the same thing youre being told only to find out the he was just an idiot talking out his rear.

I would have to agree with NOT GETTING IT for MSRP (right now anyway), Although we are experiencing tough times for BIG TICKET luxury Items & You just never know. I am hard pressed to think that if you walk into a chevy dealership with a blank check that they wouldnt consider selling one at msrp.

First rule of car buying, cavet emptor. With that emperical knowledge you can now begin the negotiations.

Now lets suppose this dealer has no idea what a ZR1 is cause all he sells is them trucks and this damn Blue Devil shows up. Highly unlikely that he doesn't have a few key customers in his commuity that he wouldn't tell. Hey, he's in the car biz and you don't think they keep sales a secret.

Obviously the sales of the dealership were high enough to get an allocation
so I kind of think it's fantasay to believe they don't know what they have, as they had to spec the car in order to get it.

In the urban areas people are paying over window to be first or just get what many believe is the last of the high horsepower cars before the oil prices cut the demand for big motors. I think the dealer may want to move the car, but it's easy to say window on something they don't have.
I think I have a better chance of finding a Gullwing in a barn than buying a
ZR1 at window this week.

Talked to a dealer in the western suburbs of Chicago today. Wanted 30K over sticker. Sold 3 out of 5 already. Next slot is Jan/09

They could be had for MSRP if you ordered one 6 months ago and have a good relationship with that dealership.
