Latest Addition To My Black Series

Look what I just bought for the baby

These are the original equipment carbon fiber DTM seats that were manufactured by Sparco. I guess they weigh about 14 pounds a piece.

I purchased a pair of them...I still take this thing out on date nights. Although I am talking to a machine shop about machining me a passenger side seat bracket that would allow for very quick release, similar to seats in airplanes so I can take out the passenger seat easily at the race track for a little more weight reduction, and then pop it back in for the drive home.

i dont know how much you weigh, but most people could lose 20 lbs and be more healthy in the process. if you qualify in this bracket then you could do better ALL the time and when you goto the racetrack take an extra 14 lbs out...

LOL...I hear what you are saying, but buying light stuff is easier than losing a few pounds. Actually, I could afford to loose 20 pounds myself. 14 pounds for an entire seat is pretty light, I would guess I am saving at least 20-25 pounds per seat. It all adds up, my 6.5 pound CF drive shaft, my sub 15 pound Braille CF battery. Just these 3 items alone are saving me about 85 pounds. They Dymag wheels saved me another 60 plus pounds.

Besides that these seats look trick as hell and they will work much better with my harnesses.

I just ordered the seats this morning. I am probably going to do the install myself, tt doesn't get much easier than four bolts. I think I have to have some custom brackets machined, I have a local custom shop in town that can do that kind of stuff.

See this is what pisses me off the most. Why can't they offer this kind of stuff directly through MBUSA when we purchase the cars. What losers at MBUSA.

Nice purchase! You may have to do another Car Mag feature in the future with all these mods.

...A lot, in the ball park of $2400 a piece, plus I need to get custom mounting brakets machined. The custom/machine shop I am talking to is going to do them in titanium. I'm guessing after it's all said and done with shipping and brakets I'll be into em for $5500 or so.

This is really a US Government problem. The seats need to pass crash testing to be offered direct - PITA!

We have them available for anyone who wants them though. The wait will depend on how many orders we have. JR is first, we have another local car that just ordered and anther that is about to.

These are also available in custom stitching or fabrics.

thanks
brad

Brad, Custom fabrics??? I thought the DTM seats were an alcantara or suede, correct? Please confirm, because I am thinking about putting a matching alcantara headliner and possibly door inserts in my car just to tie it all together.

Also can you get me some info on the CF door trim pieces I saw in the pics of the white BS you guys just posted up last week...I think it was Cort's car.

Thanks a bunch

Yep, we can go deviated stitching, AMG logo in the headrest, custom colors on alcantara or leather. BUT.... it all adds time.

The CF kit really completes the interior for sure. I will hit you up via email.

thanks

As they come, they are part alcantara and part leather (as you thought).

Thanks

SLK Black Series Euro Seats

Jim,

How about these AMG seats?

These shots were taken in October 2006 when AMG had this SLK 55 Black Series on display (and available for us to drive) at the Nuerburgring.

Those white inserts are nasty....black alcantera inserts are the way to go.
