AMG recommends that the engine oil be changed at 10,000 mile intervals.

They have just updated the recommended engine oil to Mobil 1 5W-40W.

The oil in the limited slip differential (LSD) should be changed at 1,800 miles.

When the gear oil is changed, I believe a new drain plug should be fitted (at least that was part of the process at the dealership when I had my gear oil changed).

Mobil1 5W-40 is now official from AMG recently posted in the PL for 63 engines.

Mobil1 0W-40 will work as well.

Don't fret

This is exactly how all the BS starts...... JDB and Jon are correct. 0 or 5/40 for the Black will work as stated by AMG on the Private Lounge.

Do you own a Black Series? Don't add to the confusion

Let me start by saying that I am most certainly not an oils expert but followed a discussion on the Rennlist 928 discussion board. Doug Hillary is located in Austrailia and IS an oils expert. I took his advice and used Delvac 5-40w in all my 928s for the past 4-5 years and liked the charecteristics of this oil vs. the 15-50w Mobil 1 I was using. I will switch to it in the CLK BS too. If you care to read his update from the extensive testing he has done click this link: http://forums.rennlist.com/rennforum...d.php?t=359716

BTW, I will not let my oil go 10k miles, rather I plan to change it at least once a year if there are no track events during that 12 months, more frequently if I ever get it on the track.
