Paddle shifter update kit

lol
I first noticed it when it felt laggier and laggier, so I took a close look and noticed part of the mount separate from the steering wheel when I clicked down. In fact, after it was replaced, I've felt for the first time how "instant" it's supposed to feel. I guess it was already broken when I had bought the car. The laggy shifts was because the broken piece was moving more and more before it registered a downshift signal. Makes total sense when you see it.

My paddle shifter has failed
Well, it seems the failing paddle shifter is "genetic". My Black Series shifted so poorly, I thought it was me, then I remembered, THIS IS ME DRIVING!!! Well, the shifter failed in motions today. I hope the replacement is of better quaility.

plastic epoxy
will fix these right up assuming the circuit board ain't toasted so if your warranty won't cover $5 might save you 100+ for a new pair.

mercedes propaganda
its' brain dead easy
there are two fasteners that hold the airbag to the wheel from behind
you can get the mb bit for like $12 or use a cheapo springy bit holder and whatever star size it is.
so make sure the key is not in the ignition
the airbag will flop off
do not remove it's connectors or you will get a fault when you put it back together
easy access to the screws into the broken paddle bases which were either too tight and cracked or too loose and wobbled and then cracked.
not the most robust design...........

Also agree that it is a very simple repair. While I haven't done the repair myself, I was there while the tech changed out the paddle switches on two separate occasions on my car (in 11,000 miles). It was all over and done with in a matter of minutes.
Really at a loss why the switch cracked the second time. After I had the first switch crack, I thought I had been extremely careful about the amount of force that I had been using whenever I used the paddles. After all, a light touch will make the car shift just as fast as a sledge hammer yank. But, even being cautious, I still had another failure.
Hope there aren't any more cracks in the future.

any interest in a carbon fiber version of these paddles? Not the plain old paddles laminated in carbon fiber but something completely custom along the lines of these ferrari paddles:
I will have to cannibalize a set of new parts to make them so cost will be in the realm of $300 + core exchange. If I can land an extra set of paddles or if someone wants to donate a set of broken ones I can have a prototype fabricated pretty quickly.
