Has anyone driven both cars? I would appreciate any feedback. Current market price of the BS is quite close to the GT-R nowadays. Both cars are worthy weekend track tools and could make daily drivers.

I have both. Here's my review from a thread in the "off topic" forum.

I only have 400 miles on it. So take this as very preliminary.

GTR postives- it's definitely faster, the transmission is more fun, it looks better than I thought it would, and I kind of like all the techno wiz bang features (the nav is definitely a step up)

GTR negatives-it sounds like a vacuum cleaner, there are too many rattles and odd noises, too many boys in souped up civics are stalking me.

The CLK63 Black definitely beats the GTR in fit and finish, exhaust note, and stage presence. And its no slouch in the performance category either.

So all in all it's pretty much what I expected.

I didn't appreciate Nissan forcing me to sign off on a form that said they'll void the warranty on the tranny if it is launched too often with the traction control off though.

I don't understand it. Nissan builds this Japanese Super-car, lets Car & Driver and others beat the **** out of it to hype it up, then makes the people that buy it sign a form informing them that Nissan won't cover you when you drive the car it was intended to be driven.

I've learned that I can't have black, it takes too much time to keep it looking good. Silver otoh, not a problem.

You're right, they're a pain to keep clean. I just like darker colors better.

Yeah it sucks but at least they're not like BMW. I had an M3 and an M6 with SMG and they hobbled the launch control on the US versions. I'm not a big 0-60 kind of guy but I definitely felt a little ripped off.
That said, I did play with the GTR yesterday and it's pretty freakin quick. I tried one run from 0-100mph with launch control off, traction control on, running all season tires, in 15 degree weather, and not really trying to nail it perfectly. I did it in 9 seconds flat. I dare say it will go under 8.

i really like that GTR. its looks do grow on you. i am just in awe of the performace for such a heavy car. plus you have to love the ridiculous 0-60 times. i may be picking one up in a couple of years myself.

...how do you think I feel, I had one of the first 7 E60 M5's that came into the country, it had launch control (the real launch control), brought it in for my service and they removed it from my car. I begged, b!tched and threatened but they never put it back on the car. Seven cars came to the US with lauch control as an oversight.

That sucks. The M5 would have been quite the monster with Euro launch control.

Now that I've had a little time in the GTR I have started to establish an opinion on it.

-it is definitely faster than the Black but not enough for me to really care.
-it is amazing how cheap it feels. I swear the thing is going to fall into a thousand pieces at any moment. It rattles and clunks.
-I am tired of every kid in town driving some modified POS following me or approaching me at unsafe speeds to gawk.
-On the up side I don't think anyone would tangle with me. It is ungodly fast.

Maybe I just had unrealistic expectations but I thought an $80k car would be more solidly built.
So I guess thats the secret. If you want to build a 911 Turbo killer for $50k less you have to cut corners in build quality.

Don't get me wong. I thinks it's nice but it's definitely not German.
This is my first try at Japanese performance. Maybe something like the Lexus LF-A will feel more solid.

There's a story to this. Another owner from the GT-R board sued Nissan for this. IIRC this was the exact issue of how the drama started. He often launched it with the TC off and finally broke the tranny and Nissan wouldn't cover the expense.

The V-Spec GT-R version should be hopefully be out this year but is it worth the premium? That is the question.

you don't need launch control..... add a tune to your car, with no launch control, I'm running 0-100 MPH in 7.1 seconds.....

I agree about the attention, I have kids following me into gas stations, riding next to me so I can't change, lanes, etc...
