obviously an error on the year.....i didnt know the M6 cost only $109kmsrp.....i like the sound of the M6 better..... more like a formula 1. I saw this video last year.....not a fair comparison IMO.

Yeah thats a super old vid ... my M6 stickered at a little over 111k and at the time had every option except for some night vision assistance I believe. And thank god I didnt pay that much for the car; while the M6 has its good points I'm slightly tired of driving it at 8/10ths or better to get the most out of it. I guess Im old.

Since I own both of them, they are quiet different cars at the core. I enjoy driving the M6, the V10 makes some beautiful music and hangs nicely on the throttle at the upper rpm range. From 120 mph on, it really starts stretching it's legs. Below 5000 rpm however, it feels uninspiring and numb compared to the Black Series. Handling is not even close to the BS, and DCS has to be turned off in order to get the most out of it, because it interferes at a very low level. It doesn't like tight corners like the BS, but is very good at fast long sweepers. When it comes to the transmission, hands down the M6. I do love the SMG, which is in perfect harmony with the V10. As a daily driver it's perfect and has some very nice features, like soft closing doors, HUD, high beam assistant, leather everywhere and a very good NAV compared to the BS. When it comes to carbon fiber, it rivals the BS, besides the interior, even the roof is made out of it. It's missing one thing though: It doesn't stir the soul like the BS. At the end of the day, it's nothing more than a fast GT.

Yes doc, only $112 msrp . Just like the Black Series, only $138,375 msrp. Someone just bought a used BS...... oh yeah, it was you .

not sure what you mean by this.......for a V10 it was either priced much better at MSRP or it is a much better value than the BS. I dont know....i just THOUGHT it was more expensive. And I bought mine new with 50 miles.

The V10 BMW's remind me of the Honda S2000. You have to pretend you're racing to get them to move. That gets very tiresome on the street. BS turn-in cannot be beat, and handling edge goes to the BS big time.
A look at the torque curves explains it all. Each pulse of the V10 doesn't generate much power, so you need a ton of pulses to move the car. On the street or highway, what you really want is for a nudge of the throttle to make the car jump.
On the track, you're always at the top of the rev range, so the BMW gets better, but not good enough to offset its handling disadvantage.

Interestingly enough, there is a mere 100 lbs of weigth difference between the two cars, yet the BS feels and drives like a much lighter car. I believe we have AMG to thank for suspension geometry and set up. I owned an 06 AC schnitzer M6 before my BS and I did not like the car very much. Heavy, and Heavy. I have to agree that the M6 is a more luxurious car but nothing more than a fast GT. As a daily driver, I would pick the M6 but nothing stirs the soul like the growl of the BS. Just my $.02.

You mean the 80lb torque advantage from the extra displacement? I've not driven them back to back (I've never had the pleasure of driving the BS but have the E63 030) but low down I can imagine the BS feels more sprightly...

The difference is not the total of torque an engine produces, but at what rpm the torque comes on. On the BS the torque starts just above idle, where in the M6 you have to be around 5000 rpm to enjoy the full potential. That is in the 500 HP mode, in the 400 HP mode it feels like you have a 3 liter displacement.
