Is the CLK63 BS engine similar to the C63 motor?

Are they basically the same in terms of hardware with just differences in tuning and some other bolt ons, or are there fundamental internal differences?

Sorry for the newb question but I only know American, Porsche and BMW motors.

Thanks

I believe they're all "Basically the same," with different tuning and bolt ons. Power is ~450-510. Even the SLS has the same basic design, although much better tuned and worked.

They are identical. The only difference is tuning, and the oil lines to the cooler. The actual engine harness is the same on the c class and the clk class as well.

So with an ecu upgrade I should get similar power then, yes?

I think the exhaust is more open on the BS, but yes, you should get similar power levels. I drove a friend's C63 with an exhaust and ecu tune that was supposedly making ~530hp but I was somewhat disappointed as my stock BS seemed faster. Could be the lower gearing on the BS.

They are not "identical". The intake and exhaust are different, as is the tuning. Otherwise, as far as block, rotating assembly and internals...they are the same.

.
Intake is the same and IIRC, the exhaust manifold is also the same "log." The exhaust piping from manifold back is larger on the BS.
