Black Series Front and Rear Seat Question?

Hi guys

I live in Australia and all 32 CLK63 Blacks we got down here came with the racing buckets and no back seats. I noticed that a number of the US spec and maybe Euro spec cars have the luxury seats in the front and two rear seats in the back.

My fist question is whether these 'luxury' seats are actually the same as the c63 seats or something different, and also whether it would be difficult to swap the bucket seats out for the others if it was possible?

My second question is whether anyone could post some pictures of their front and rear seats if your car is optioned as described above.

I am thinking about replacing the front seats with more practical ones and converting the rear 'hollows' into seats.

Many thanks in advance.

We don't have rear seats, their more like tray areas for helmets or a man purse.
I'd be glad to trade front seats, if you want to.

None of the CLK Blk series have rear seats. The front seats of the US version is the same as the C63 seats. I would highly recomment staying away from putting rear seats in your BLK series as ingress and egress is almost impossible. If you need back seats then I think you should buy another car with back seats or get a regular clk. Good luck with whatever you end up doing.
I too would swap seats with you if you chose to do so.

Not to mention the 110 pound (I think it's 110 - I know it's not much) weight restriction for the rear.

BTW, there are lots of people here looking for the Euro style seat - perhaps you might be able to trade?

what would be involved in changing the seats over, how hard would it be and would there be a need to fabricate/drill new holes/mounting brackets. Another thing to consider is the fact that the US spec seats are electric whereas the seats in our cars are not, therefore rendering the US seat useless, or am I wrong?

The US/EUR mounting points should be the same on the seats. You would need to run a power line to the US seat but being the cars are the same there should be a provision already to do that.

I am just worried that the mounting rails for the racing buckets in our cars would be somehow different from the mounting rails on the US spec seats, therefore requiring drilling new holes to mount the new seats and mounting rails.
Anyone had any experience, or knows a definite answer to this?

KICHERER

sorry for late response . The site address is here :www.kicherer.net

contact " Florian Herre " . I think the conversion is several thousand Euros all in . Full TUV approval .
Florian is a nice guy and speaks good enough English and will tell you everything you want to know . Most European tuners will discount for group buy so may be worth a post ?
Good luck .

FYI I came very close to getting the conversion last year .

Heres his e mail :

With that being said. Is anyone interested in getting some people together and see what we can do on a group buy for the front seats??? Please chime in if you are interested. I certainly am if the price is right.

I think the front seats are just re-worked Recaro Sporster CS, with CF and leather trim. A standard one is ~$1500, so these will easily be ~$2000 if not more.

just the fronts wouldn't be bad. I'm assuming that's $3k-4k total right? the rears aren't really necessary, especially on US-spec car.
