Driving "Mr. Ganassi's BS "
Enough of Chip as it's mine all mine !!!!

FACTS
Saturday March 27, 2010. Temp 40+ F, Drive 111 miles, Ave 39 MPH, 19.0 MPG.
EMOTIONS
I vividly recall how I got addicted..
Late September 1966, soon to turn 18 and just got my first real job.
Get a telephone call from my cousin who worked for Dodge.
Told me to go to a certain dealership and look at what's coming off of the car carrier.
Lo and behold a Turbine Bronze Metallic with Black vinyl roof Dodge Coronet R/T.
Complete with 440ci high compression engine, front disc brakes, 4:11 gear in the 9" Dana with the console shifted Torquefilte.
Yes I bought it..$3600MSRP, financed for $95.00 month/36 months..
"Torque" is now fully injected into my veins and I can't live without it.

Impressions
Started the BS and sat listening to the exhaust note in my garage.
Backed it out and drive the mile to the six lane Coastal Highway.
Went North about two miles and turned West, where only "two lane blacktop" exists.
Interesting feel, firm ride, crisp steering, impressive !!
Seats very supportive about the best in any production car that I can recall.
And then my first "torque adrenaline rush"...
Farm truck in front of me as I'm in the land of more chickens then people.

Pulled out and smoothly passed, but what a surprise as I pushed down on the pedal to feel the rear break loose at 80MPH...
The BS has now earned my respect

I now realized that the it's not necessary to drive the BS quickly because it's quick no matter how it's driven...

Had my East coast street corner music playing on MP3 CD's that the command unit recoginized...
As if the acceleration took me back in time to a happier place...
WOW !!!!!
Was a song many years ago, not really my style but the words "the day the music died" had meaning..
With the BS not only has the music not "died" but it's getting much "louder"...
What an experience !!!!

The southern part of Delaware is mostly rural..great back roads..
Problem with all the melted snow and incredible amounts of rainfall is that the soil doesn't drain..
Even today, didn't know what was around the bend..
Would hate to exit the apex at speed only to go through a foot of standing water...
The BS is incredible...
Did a lot of road racing in older English ( AM DB6 Vantage spec and Jag MKII 3.8 sedans ) cars with bias ply tires...
Needless to say had to get used to a great deal of drift..
The BS feels like it has "slot car" handling, right down to the racing bred steering wheel..
If it's not the closest thing to a very streetable race car or an equally raceable street car, it will have to do until the real thing comes along..

I imagine on the track it can be a handful with the ESP off...

Restaurant is about 50 miles from the Coastal Resort area where I live.
Been there for many years...great comfort food !!!

to OP. You are super close to me. We should meet up around route 100 and play with the BSs a bit...two black BS would be pretty sick to see running around there...

Grew up in West Philadelphia and lived for about 25 years in Bryn Mawr...
Problem is the weather...expecting heavy rain for the next three days...

Can't wait until the area dries up a bit and the standing water departs from some of the rural roads...
