PIX AND R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Decided to take some pix today..
Fog lifted, mid fifties, cold wind coming off of the ocean.
Headed south on Coastal highway to where the ocean is on one side and the bay on another..
Very nice divided highway that runs straight for a few miles.
About a mile after turning on the highway, a 2009-2010 SL63 AMG pulled out of a restaurant parking lot..
Top down, black on black, wind deflector...nice car.
Young guy ( everybody's young to me.. ) sort of ignored the CLK BS..
Heavy traffic through the last town and finally reached the long straight section.
I pulled out to the passing lane, he behind me.
Punched it on a 50 mph roll, assumed he did the same...
At 130mph I was putting car lengths on the SL63...
I pulled to the slow lane, gave a "thumbs up" and let him go around...
He smiled and we both drove the speed limit...

The BS is a car that must be respected....more so by it's owner/driver !!!
Some pix...creative with the first one !!!

Not negating many fine "super" and not so "super cars"...but the BS is "special"
I've still only experienced about 150 miles, but the seating is the best I've ever had in a "street" car..
Incredibly responsive, a bit "twitchy", go kart steering and very distinguishable..
Had a young man pull up next to me in a Subaru Impreza WX and yell.."That's a beautiful car"..
Very "streetable" and docile, but yet quite "race" tuned...

The Best of Mercedes & AMG

I'm sure if I bothered to look, and probably not too far, I would find a myriad of things that I find distasteful in anothers life and possessions...
But would I mention it?
Not really....
I have more important things to do then comment on another's individuality....

I'm an old guy who goes back with AMG to when they built their franchise on the 124 chassis.
No two cars alike, all "ala carte" and even the same option selected varied from build to build...
Anything I do to the my BS will be fully reversible...no paint, holes drilled, nothing structural.
I picked up a damaged grille on EBAY for about $60.00
Wrapped the gloss black with 3M Dinoc Carbon Fiber film.
Painted the chrome bars gloss black, but will wrap wth gloss black outdoor sign vinyl as the paint will eventually chip...
I basically collect and keep cars for a long time..
Really don't like most of the newer AMG cars because they are "generic".
The BS or the G55K that I own are not as "generic", so I consider them collectible !!!

Pristine 1999 with under 60K miles..
Only non stock item is a set of Mandrus Millenium rims, which look a bit like the BS rim...
The red W124 Hammer is a great car...
If you are partial to red, I'm in the process of building a "tribute / replica " of the AMG 320E "1AMG" widebody built by Stratton's UK...
It will be as close of a copy as possible and probably better put togther then the real car !!!
Here's a link to the build thread on a UK Merc forum...
Hopefully complete before summer, and then a photo shoot with it's younger BS brother

BTW it looks like you drove that thing out onto the sand, how did you not get stuck?
My project car is the old 190e that my parents had new since 1986. I was planning on doing an AMG "look" package and decided not to spend any more money on it. I did find some Lorinser D93s (not period correct as these came out early/mid 90s) and lowered it on H&Rs. However, I did find an authentic gen 1 w201 AMG kit in a private salvage yard that needs work (skirts ripped, rear spoiler delaminated).
Easy first to do stuff that doesn't cost anything except a can of spray paint and some center caps that I always have laying around...
Sand was actually packed down due to the heavy rains we had prior to me taking the pix on the dune...

Hey, its your car, do what pleases you. I think red caps might go better with the tails though. A nice Brembo red on the calipers and banish the orange side markers and you are good. But thats my opinion- non professional of course.

That's why I look at all posts with humor..
Life's too short...
