CLK63 Black Series
There were definitely CLK63BS in the U.S. in May 2007. They were here for testing by the international press corps at Willow Springs.

A few days later in May 2007, there was also one on display only at the AMG Challenge event at the California (now Auto Club) Speedway in Fontana, California.

Have no idea as to when the first ones were sold to individuals.

Mine has an October 07 Build date and was delivered to me in November 07. I also believe that production continued into the first few months of 2008.

Luke if yours says 2007 its an instant collectors item, as far as I know the only 2007 Black Series was an SLK BS.

If yours was one of the first seven imported then mine must be in that group.
What's the last six digits of your VIN ?

My data card indicates "Delivery date: 19 07 2007 " ( possibly production date ? ) and vehicle arrived at the dealer on 8/22/2007 and was titled to the first owner on 8/28/2007.
Last six digits of the VIN are "237612".

If i understand you correctly, you are saying there may be gaps between the VIN numbers of each BS but that they would still be in sequential order of build. So unless AMG wants to help out, we just need to get all 350 or so owners to post the last 6 digits of their VIN.

Here's a list of VIN's and build dates that I have found on the internet.

CLK Numbers.pdf

If you should have corrections (I am sure there will be a few) or additions, let me know, and I will incorporate them into this list.

Tracking BS

Hey JDW.

Since u have the last six of vin numbers I will give u my info to add to your stat list so we can all track these cars for longevity.

My last six VIN# 236982, name is Joe Lanzo, live in Phoenix, AZ phone contact (602) 403-0024. I have a silver one.

I think this would be a good list to have for all of us in case of what ever. Rallies, meet and greets or just tracking purpose to help keep the value of this rare car from declining in price by the blood sucking whole sale dealer auction locations. They hurt all of us when it comes to this car. Most people do not know about BS that don't own one.

Let me know what u think. So far a lot of people are giving there last six of Vin #.

You should do a search on here and u will find that most owners don't care much what these cars are selling for in the used market as most of us plan on driving them as much as possible and keeping them for a very long time.

Exactly. Cars, for the most part, are assets not investments. And most of the time, a depreciating asset that u have to constantly throw money at in terms of fuel, registration, insurance, etc.
If your more concerned about the present value of your black series, than you are about enjoying it as much as possible; then you should rethink why you bought it in the first place.

Life is short, go do a burnout

And, if you drive it more, the cost of depreciation per mile will drop dramatically.

Plus the more you drive it, the less inclined you'll be to even consider selling it!

First CLK63 Black Series in U.S.

So far the first CLK63 Black Series in the U.S. appears to be:

228999 (last 6 digits of the VIN).

It was built in May 2007, and according to CarFax it was a "Manufacturer's Vehicle".

Does anyone have a lower serial number or build date?

If you do, please let me know. I would like to update the database.

I agree.
I'll keep mine at least 20 years or until my estate sells it.
I still have my 87' & 88' Twin Turbo Callaway's, 90' ZR1, 99' Mallett Convertible, 93' 600E & 400E's, 2005' EVO MR & 2005' Denali and 2006' C55.

I'd estimate from what I've seen in the last few years here that about 25% to 35% of the cars got into the hands of those who didn't appreciate them for what they are.

There was approximately 350 made during the one model year and with the current population of the USA at 330 Million that means only about one person in a million has the 2008' F1 Safety Car to drive any day they want to.

Thanks for the heads up on the Red CLK63 Black Series.

VIN 228641 with a build date of 04/07 is now the earliest example.

You got me beat, I only have one Dodge Sprinter 2500 high top van.
Did you notice that the newer body style now comes with the Mercedes emblems.

Actually, some MB dealers are now starting to sell Sprinter vans, and they're badged the way they should be.

My MB VIN ends in 239272 and it was made in August 07.

The comment earlier about detective work suggests you'll have to match a bunch of VIN's and get some help from the Private Lounge to figure out where yours falls.

Maybe it's as simple as the AMG serial number ...... naaaah!
Mike, what are smart guy you are!!! I was detailing my car today and remembered you saying something about the AMG serial numbers. So I look at mine, and it is 000371. Mine was built in July of 2007, which makes sense since my number is lower than yours. My VIN number is lower than yours as well. So, according to AMG, they built 500 CLK63 BS's world wide, which would make my car the 371st and Mike's the 384th car in the production cycle.

Anyone else wants to look and post their AMG production number?

Not to put a damper on things, but my build date is 11/07 and my AMG Serial # is 000583. Maybe they started at a number higher than 001.
