Hey Mo, my dealership is trying to sell me a brand new (8 miles) never registered or put into service blk/blk SL 65 BS for under $220k, $90k off MSRP plus throw in a 2 year extended warranty, want me to have them write it up for you?...if it was silver or white it would be in my garage already.

Not quite sure how you figured the "only 1 year" part? Depending on when the car was built and sold it could be going on 3 years old..... Mine will be 3 years old in August with an in service date of September 2007..... My perspective is; that's not a bad price for a 3 year old car with 17k miles.

This particular CLK63 Black Series has the lowest VIN that I have seen. It has a build date of 04/07, and is reported as being sold at auction as a "Manufacturer's Vehicle".

Not a fan of black??

I'd have thought that was the most in-demand color for the SL65BS so that means you should be able to match that discount on a white one maybe, a silver one almost definitely...keep us updated...

I asked my dealer to look into dealer trading for a white or silver, there were not too many white or silvers out there and of the dealerships that had them none of them wanted to dealer trade their vehicle. There are quite a few black ones out there, based on what a few dealers told me white and silver are/were the most in demand colors, although I don't have any actual production/sales number to back up, but you can walk into any dealer and they can use their dealer networking/locating computer and see what is out there. I don't like the car in black as much as I like it in silver or white, and black is a pain in the butt to keep up. Every few vehicles I purchase a black car then 3 months into it I realize why I don't like them, too much work and no matter how well you treat it the paint never looks perfect. I own a couple black M3's so I am constantly reminded of this fact and I just bought my girlfriend a 2010 ML in black and I'm already regretting that decision (most women should not own black cars, especially daily driven cars). Don't get me wrong, black is awesome when it is pristine, but I drive my cars and silver and white are the way to go IMO

thx that explains the situation perfectly...im with you on hating black cars the minute you drive them off the showroom floor and in the hands of a woman it does indeed get 10x worse...here's hoping you're able to locate a silver or white one as i'd love to see what kind of a monster you build when you start with a tt platform...

Herb Chambers MB in Natick, MA has a black one & they're advertising it at only 50 grand off. The car is frikkin' beautiful, but unfortunately, there's a car whose sticker value will be cut in half as soon as it's driven off the lot.

Unfortunately, nothing devalues quicker than an AMG Benz.

CLK63 Black Series
On May 10, 2007, there was a Red CLK63 Black Series that was available (among other cars of other colors) for the international press to test drive at an AMG media event held at the Streets of Willow, at the Willow Springs Racetrack facility in California.

CLK63 Black Series
The Streets of Willow is not an ideal track for the BS. Short, technical and very hard on a heavy car, especially the brakes. The big track is much better suited for that car, but I guess for safety reasons they chose the Streets. If that is indeed the same car, it had it's fair share of abuse.

CLK63 Black Series
First, I want to be perfectly clear. I am not claiming that the red CLK63 Black Series in the photo, and the car that is being offered for sale are the one and the same. I was just making the point that there was a red BS at that AMG press event back in May 2007.

By the way, never been on the full course, but it was great fun driving the Black Series on the shorter Streets of Willow course. All the while that I was driving, though, I was worried that I might distinguish myself by going off the pavement and winding up hurtling across that less than friendly looking terrain that surrounds the track and destroying a car that hadn't even been released to the public.

Thankfully, there were no unplanned excursions, just many laps of fun, that cemented my decision that I had to have one of these wonderful cars.
