OT: Lexus LFA, What are your thoughts?
Quoted from a local Lexus GM:
It’s 10K to submit to be interviewed. If there is a car, and they accept you, it’s 50K, non-refundable to place an order. Base price 375K. If they get the base, the 24 month “one pay only” lease payment is appox 12400 x 24 mos = 297K with a buyout of approx 94K
Gotta say I'm surprised that Lexus is treating this vehicle with such kid gloves. What am I missing about this car that makes all of this (above) worth it? Exclusivity? There are so many other cars at that price or less that you don't have to jump through hoops to get...
Here is a little on that:

and for the poster who said no one has seen the car, I worked for Lexus and saw the car in person in November- its a looker.

The fact is; I will probably never get to drive, let alone buy, any of these wonderful vehicles. If I was fortunate enough to be able to buy a car of this price range, LFA wouldn't be on my top ten list.
I saw the LFA at the L.A. Auto Show and I thought that it was a great $250K car. Later I was shocked to find out that they were asking for $400K!
I agree that $250k would make more sense but I guess they see it a big league player...

I don't doubt you're correct, but the chances of anyone in the LFA's buying demographic putting 30k miles on it in 3 years is virtually zero. The majority of these LFAs will be an owner's 4th or 5th vehicles at best, likely to never see 30k miles in the car's usable lifetime.
I have a strong suspicion that in 3 years we will see countless LFAs offered for sale with less than 5k miles on them.

I won't "hate" on the LFA though, looks to be an incredible car too.

Interestingly, all the tech doesn't lead to a performance advantage either.
I think this car goes back to the drawing boards for a twin clutch trans and about 100 more lb.ft. of torque. Right now, it is a poser, not a performer. AS

That the downside of trying to do a supercar when your a mass market company like Toyota.
Their F1 team was the same way. Lota dollars spent and mediocre results. It's just not their nitch.
As for the comments on flipping Ferrari's, cig1 is right on. The Ferrari dealer community is very small and they will remember. You may make some money on one at the dealers expense, but that's the last.
When SL55 first hit dealers they were hot and I was on the list and the guy in front of me was tying to sell the car before he picked it up to pick up an easy $10k. I showed the dealer the ebay add and he promptly sold me the car. I'm sure there are a lot of stories of somebody's uncles brother who does this all the time.
