Michelin Pilot A/S on a BS
I've been offered two new Michelin Pilot Sport A/S tires size 285/30/19' for $300.00. Tire Rack sells them for $338.00/tire so you can see my interest. I don't track or drive my car aggressively, and I'm not a big fan of my OEM Corsa's. I know these tires will fit the rear without any problems. What if any is the down side of using a ZR-rated high performance all season tire on a BS? Would i be the first to find out?

Unless you are in winter most of the year like up in Iceland or Alaska and want to drive in light snow a lot, I'd probably stick with a summer tire like a Michelin PS2. You'll still have the excellent grip of a max performance non-R compound tire, and better than average wear for similar tires in the category.

After more research I too reached the conclusion it's a bad idea. I'm now waiting for the PS-3 reviews to see if they are an improvement over the PS-2.

The PS2 actually wears very good in the 18" size on my Porsche for being a max-grip tire.

Yes, I know and agree 100%. Don't get me wrong, I've pushed my BS to 170+, turned my ESP off and slid sideways, and scared a lot of passengers after telling them I was going to show them what it it was capable of. However, I do drive it sanely under normal traffic conditions 99% of the time. There just isn't any "open space" in the NVA/DC area to fully exercise this car on a routine basis. That said, I've been thinking of tracking my BS but I don't have the proper driver training or experience. I compare it to buying your second boat first which I've done e.g. a 28' Wellcraft cabin cruiser before i knew how to handle a boat. It was a big mistake and I don't want to make the same mistake with my BS.
