Advice?

Hey Guys! New to board. In the market for a CLK63. Is there any known problems to look for? I try to search the net but have not came up with anything. Would like owners advice on what to look for. I come from a Porsche & BMW back ground. My reason for going with the CLK63 is the exclusivity. It was a CLK or a Modena. I figured in the long run the CLK is more practical and maintenance would be lighter on the pockets.

Does anyone know this car?: I've only found this and whatever else on auto-trader.com

Thanks in advance!

Currently in the garage:
95 M3 (Daily Driver)
88 M3
82 Porsche 911SC
69 Porsche 912
95 Defender 90

Nice selection of toys there.
No common complaints on the BS.

That car seems like the recycled one that's been around for some time, Matte Black wrap with somewhat tasteless red bits of stuff done inside. The performance upgrades are excellent, though.

You can't go wrong with the CLK BS. I swapped a Porsche for my BS about six weeks ago and couldn't be happier.

The best thing to look for is your choice of color, and whether you want a CPO/ext warranty or not. Also check for repo or accident cars.

For some reason quite a few of us seem to have major issues with rear tires...

In all seriousness, no major problems. A handful of us experience a slight amount of excesive oil consumption but that is the biggest issue I have heard of and its pretty minor issue.

Few things to look for that should have been replaced under warranty;
Cam position sensor
parking brake cable retrofit (it's placed close to the exhaust and can melt)
Thats about it for known issues that I can think of off the top of my head. Other than that, it's bulletproof, alot of fun to drive and you won't see another one pull up next to you at a light.

Cam position sensor?

I hadn't heard about that. Could you add some details?

Thanks,
JDB

Mine failed early on. Car went into limp mode and drove horribly. Pulled over and had it towed into the dealer. Apparently this is not specific to the BS, but all 63 motors. AMG has an updated part that fixes the problem. I'm not sure exactly what was wrong with the original sensor, but IIRC it had something to do with high engine temps causing it to fail.

It's not an active service campaign or tsb, right?
They just replace as needed?
