Since getting the car, it's either been in the shop getting stuff done to it, or I've been out of town. Today's the first day I was actually home where I got a chance to take some pics of her. I think I've only driven it 3 full days since I got it, which is kinda depressing.

So far, I've got the factory iPod, Bluetooth, Full 3M, and spacers installed. The 3M is a new clear Matte product, and has basically converted the Obsidian Black paint to a Satin black. Side by side, it's almost identical to the Designo Magno Night Black color, except much easier to maintain. In fact, the Designo Magno (Matte) cars use the same stuff for 3M protection, as normal 3M gives it it's gloss back. Like any Matte car, it's next to impossible to photograph properly. I'll have to get a professional shoot done when the car's ready.

Here's the transformation as it happened:

And here she is in daylight:

And in the dark:

Thanks! I did this same theme on my C63 last year (except with the older matte vinyl), and the chrome and non matte accents makes the car stand out a little more. The all black theme is too gangsta or drug dealer for me haha.

The paint protection job costs anywhere from 4000-6000 depending on the material as well as installer rates. I got a much better deal since I'm a long time customer. There's currently 2 films available to do this. Premier makes one and have installers all over the US.

The other option (what I went with) is the Xpel product, which I believe is a little bit cheaper.

I am confused.

How does it clean up? Are there any areas of dirt under the film? I imagine that would be not good... Does it tear or chip easily?

I can't believe the look, its in between matte and gloss. Matte is too matte and gloss is too gloss. It looks great in the pics, I need to see that in person!

The car is black. It has a protective film covering the car that dulls the color, therefore appearing matte black...from what I've gathered.

Love it!

It's the 3M that makes it look that way. The original color is Obsidian Black Metallic.

Washing the car is even easier than with paint. Pressure wash, air dry 80%, wipe residual water with a damp cloth.

The film covers the paint and protects the paint, exactly like 3M. It's the same thickness at 8mils, unlike the vinyl matte product which is only 2mils thick and tear very easily (My C63 needs to be redone after 1 winter because of it).

If you want to see it in person, find a Designo Magno Night Black color car. It's very very close to that color.

One more from my friend's camera phone. Shows the difference better in this picture. It's really tough to capture in pictures unfortunately, in person it's a huge huge difference.

Nice AMG stable - the matte on black looks sweet... I think I like the film better!

I'm also curious because if I pick one up I'm changing the color to something other than what was offered by the factory (I'm addicted to grey so I'd want to do some sort of flint grey wrap )

PM us if you don't want to post publicly please.
