I wonder when the "RACER" on the right-hand side of the rear deck lid will catch on?

That will probably lead to another "poser" thread.

There is a 4 slat starless grille on eBay made out of fiberglass. I purchased it and the quality was not bad. Extreme Dimensions had a GB for a 3 slat starless grille in CF and in fiberglass. Long story short only 3 CF grilles were made, and I was lucky enough to get one. The first pic is with the eBay 4 slat and the second is with the ED CF 3 slat.

The ED 3 slat one looks good, but it should have the weave spliced/seemed in the center so the weave angle goes opposite on each side. Wouldn't be hard to do. Other than that detail it looks good... much better than the 4 slat.

Here is a better pic of the weave. I actually like that it's consistent all the way across. It would have been sweeter if the weave went the same direction as the CF lip, but you can't have it all..lol..

I love the look of the grill with the three-pointed star.

Every time I look at it, I am reminded of the great racing heritage that is represented by that symbol.

I would feel that I had turned my car into a gelding if I were to remove the Mercedes Star.

With the star removed, I think the car begins to resemble the look of a Toyota or Lexus.

But, different opinions are what make horse racing.

True, but I think there is too many stars on the front of the car from hood emblem to grille star.

Those in the know could tell what kind of car it is with or without the star. The other 98% of the population probably couldn't tell the difference or don't care.

Couldn't agree more..the grille Star is the Merc sport heritage...
Slat grille in your rear view mirror and no idea of what's behind you....

I did a 3M carbon fiber overlay, weave and all...could always black out the grille star ala pre merger AMG...get an ominous look and still recognizable...

Another more "OEM" option is the standard grille used on the W203 C55 AMG. Some C55 owners (myself included) deliberately switch from the stock starless C55 grille to the W209 CLK grille just to get that big star.

Contact JT55, he owns abeautiful Mars red Black Series, he had a carbon fiber fabricator produce a no star grill along with several other high quality cf parts for his car. I've seen his car in person and the quality of craftsmenship on the cf is second to none. I will text him and tell him to chime in or contact you via PM with his source.
