My first post! Hopefully not the last.

I'm looking to buy a stock CLK63 BS. I'm hoping to find one similar in cost and miles to what JLee sold:

https://mbworld.org/forums/clk63-bla...ck-series.html

I prefer black or silver. Maybe white but I'd need to see that in person first. (No offense red owners.)

I've spent the last month speaking with dealers and looking online with no real luck. The ones out there are either modded, have questionable Carfax reports, or have too high an asking price.

Ideally, the car will be located somewhere in the eastern part of the US.

PM me if you have yours up for sale or know of one available.

Many thanks.

Welcome, where do you live? Chicago Motor Cars in West Chicago, IL has one, clean, good tires (these things eat tires)bone stock, one owner car, Black, 7000 miles and they are asking $80,000. I was in there about a week ago checking out another car, the Black Series was sitting in their showroom. Should be able to grab it for well under $80k.

LOL, The car I just told you about is actually listed on ebay. They have it listed for $82,800 or "Make an Offer", they quoted me $80k even so I would start at $75k and see what happens. See link to auction below

BTW, what do you want to pay for one? IMO the car in this ad is worth $76k, no stone chips, interior is showroom clean and tires are good and Autochecked @ 92

Me again...Hmmmm, just noticed a slight discrepency in the story of this car. When I was in there they told me it was a 1 owner car, they actually said the original dealer was the first owner listed on title becuase the car was sitting around on the lot and had to be put into service, but they told me only 1 customer owned the car, the CarFax report on this car say 3 owners. Probably not a big deal but thought I would mention it. I also noticed that the car still is covered under factory warranty for another 20 months.

jrcart. Thanks for the quick post. I'm in Northern Virginia. I spoke with that dealer last week about their car. He said it's in great shape except for a scratch in front. I won their eBay auction over the weekend but I didn't meet the reserve. My concern with that one is that it has no manuals, only one key, no service records and two stints (IIRC) at wholesalers auctions. (Almost like it was a repo.) So my bid reflected that although no one else bid high enough to show what I was really bidding. BTW - did they have it listed at $80k at the dealership? (He's got it at $82,800 + fees online.)

First, I did not notice a scratch on the front, must be very small, glad to hear they are disclosing everything. I did not ask about manuals, so you might be right about not being available. If it were a repo it would/should have come up on the CarFax or Auto Check history report, they have both reports available for this vehicle. I was not seriously shopping for that car but since I own one I was curious of what they were asking. It's a very clean car. As for the price, there was no price physicaly listed on the car, but when I asked the salesmen told me $80,000. Based on how dealers work, they never quote their final price right out of the box, I would assume the car could be snagged for well under $80,000. Car is relisted now as a $82,800 or "make an offer" it's possible that $80k is their final number but I doubt they would have quoted me $80k if it were, they always start high and let you back them towards their final number.

I can attest to the condition of the car, it's clean and stock excpet tinted windows. Call them up and negotiate at deal.

Thank you for the assessment.
What I'd like to pay is $75 or so. A previous auction for that car had a bid of that amount but the reserve wasn't met. I'm keeping an eye on it but am now trying to reach out to more than just eBay, autotrader and cars.com.

I've seen a good red one go through for $70K, but I've seen a few banged-up black ones go for over $90K. The people who bought them seem to like them enough to hang on to them.

Ah, a counter offer!
Let me counter your counter.
$99k with one mod: $24k in cash in the trunk to better the weight distribution.

I have a 93 RX-7 R-1 that's been basically parked in a garage for the last five years.
It's worth maybe 9k. But I wouldn't sell it for twice that because I love it so much.
So I think I know where you are coming from. That said, I see lots in the 70's, some with and additional $20k in them. And JLee's looked great at $75k. So that's what I'm basing my target on.

picky I know but you didn't win the auction, you were high bidder.....

GLW search! At $75k you are at or near the bottom of the market so your expectations should probably accurately reflect your number. The saying, "you get what you pay for" is oh so true when it comes to buying a used BS.

Thanks for the well-wishes.

True about 'winning'. Caught that just after Posting.

I've heard from a couple of people. Hopefully I'll be able to work something out.

R1's are nice cars.

I had a 3rd gen that I put a 3 rotor in. Great car and was all about top end.

I'd say your timing here was perfect considering Sechsgangs car is for sale, near you and within your price range, color etc. The clear bra is also a must and will save you a couple grand instead of having to get it done yourself. These cars don't come up for sale very often and most of the guys on here take very good care of them. I'd say you lucked out - buy it!!!

The 3 rotor conversion was the holy grail for the 3rd gen. Mine is kept near stock. Loooooooooove when that 2nd turbo kicked in. Mine is only at 40k miles on the odo. It's still my favorite toy.

Speaking of toys, I thought this was a typo (one too many zeroes) until I read the details. If the BS is considered rare, what adjective describes this?

The CLK BS did to the DTM what the SLS is doing to SLR's having their second bday on a dealers showroom floor.

Yes. Please don't get me started on the DTM, I've made my argument in the past that a tuned BS will K in your pocket. The only area whereI give the DTM a slight advantage is the transmission, BS has better brakes and is ever so slightly lighter. Every time this topic comes up I pray that someone with a DTM reads it and puts there DTM up againt my BS for some head to head comparison but unfortunetly most DTMs are parked and never driven.
