Someone tried to pry off my rear CF wing....need repair or upgrade suggestions

As title says i just noticed it looks like someone tried to pry off my CF rear spolier/wing from the drivers side edge. There are 2 small dents in the metal trunk where they tried to pry. I will be calling insurance tomorrow. So should i upgrade to an aftermarket wing that is slightly bigger? Pics to follow.

In my mind you have 3 options:

1.) park inside a garage
2.) hire someone to watch your car 24/7
3.) have a sign made up that you post on your vehicle when it is parked saying something along the lines of "SMILE YOUR ON CAMERA "

even if you do not have a camera it will definitely make the people think twice about messing with your car

Gotcha... Thieves are getting crazy these days, first catalytic convertors, then wrangler doors, now CF wings...

What is the world coming to?

So are you suggesting a larger wing to make it harder to steal??

i need suggestions on where to get a new wing, unless the CF can be repaired. If i need to replace it, i might as well upgrade it. Something like this....

pic attached.....the glare is from light, but u can see the paint scraped under the corner of the CF wing is kinda crushed/scratched. Also there is a dent that u cant see in the pic due to being blurry....but u get the idea.

At $1230 for the Vorsteiner, I would do it. I can't imagine the OEM spoiler being any cheaper.

People are so f*#ked up. In a matter of few weeks of driving and parking the car in public, someone has opened their door onto the edge of my door to cause a 4 inch vertical crease that can't be autodented out, and then some one drove into my car grazing the drivers side. All the black smear was removed, but the impact caused a small dent in the rear fender that also can't be autodented out because it's in a part where the steel is double walled.

Sorry to hear about that. I had the same thing happen to me but luckily it wasn't my Black Series. I drove my S550 to Vegas with some friends for the weekend. Stayed at the Wynn hotel...to make a long story short...my spoiler was missing when it was time to leave. Only thing left was the tape residue. I was beyond upset. It took a long time but it was eventually replaced. To this day I refuse to stay at the Wynn because of this. I'll stay at the Four Seasons from now on...anyways....to address your problem....there is nothing you can do. My car was parked in a parking garage under video surveillance and someone still stole my spoiler and it wasn't even CF.

If your going to replace your CF spoiler I would order it now as I have placed an order for a new rear spoiler for my black and it has gone 8 months. Order was placed in October of 2010. My CF spoiler started to yellow and eventually an air bubble made its way to the surface opening up a small hole in the resin exposing the CF. I documented the whole thing and presented it to the dealership. Took a month for them to be able to verify with Mercedes that it would be replaced under warranty. But its been 8 months!!!! I call once a week to ask where the spoiler is but always get the same response....."back ordered" I would have gotten the Vorsteiner if I had to pay for the new spoiler but since MB is paying for it I guess I'll just have to wait.

Your dealer is trying to pull a fast one on you. That part should easily be obtained. Just inquire to www.parts.com how the availabilty of that part number is. Also you can go to another parts department and have them check how many of the parts are not only in your area but also in the US.

I would stick with OEM personally in case you have problems down the road, but that's your call.

I believe that is an evo sport wing. They might be able to give you a better deal on it than GMP, that is if Evo sporet is still in business.

That's what I was thinking. I tried calling a few other dealers in the area but got the same response. I'll make a few calls to some dealers out of state and see what response I get.

Whatever we're tuning!
CLK63 BS rear spoiler p/n A2097900588 lists for $2440 and I am able to get any part for the CLK63 BS if anyone is interested.

The Vorsteiner spoiler lists for $1295 and is much more aggressive looking and will definitely give you more downforce on the rear.

The Vorsteiner is what you want Todd!

Sorry to hear about the damage.

Before you decide to purchase a new wing, try to contact the guys at macarbon.com. They may be able to repair it to almost new. They have done numerous cf repairs and they emailed me some pics of repairs they have done and it looked pretty good, but I seem to have misplaced the pics. I had some scuffs on my rear diffuser that they said they could address.

i went to MB for an estimate and they confirmed a new wing would be about $2300.....labor about $650. Not too bad when u consider a story they told me about a CF hood from an SLR who hit a cone while on the track. New one of those is $73,000!!!! The owner sent it up north for repair and it took a few months, but it was a whole lot cheaper.

I believe they could do your wing for around $200-300.

Who would "do" my wing? Macarbon.com to repair or the MB dealership to install?

You can see photos of the differences between OEM and Vorsteiner rear spoilers by going to the CLK55-CLK63-Forum.

Who is going to be painting your trunk? That entity would send the spoiler to macarbon for repair while they paint your trunk. I don't know the exact turnaround time. When the spoiler is returned to you they would place the spoiler back on the car.

here is the owner of macarbon's email
