Vented bonnet project
Hi I am working on a vented bonnet idea for my black series. Dies anybody know:
1) if the hood from a regular CLK or CLK63 fits the black series ? I suspect does but...
2) wha is the part number for a regular CLK bonnet
3) what is part number for a CLK BS bonnet
I am going to try and replicate the old Brabus K8 CLK hood or even the cent pattern one of the versions of the Brabus Bullit.
Any help would be appreciated. All I need is part numbers and project can start.

Try the above link. I have no idea what happened, whether the guy is business or what but it could be a start. If you sort out let me know as I would probably grab one. One concern I do have is that unless my eyes have gone funny (a possibility), it appears the air would be coming into the hood which I suppose would cool the engine BUT at speed you want to minimise the air going in. To me it makes more sense to vent out rather than in.
Thoughts?

Maverick, the hoods are all the same across the w209 line. The clk 63 bs hood is really heavy, and it's too bad that mb didn't at the least use aluminum. Look forward to your design, the final revision on my hood mold should be ready in the next few weeks.
Here is the part number

Wonsuk - how is your conversion going? For some reason I thought you had given up on the project. I am very interested and am willing to help offset the development costs if you get a good solution. I know Eveopsport was working on a solution but hadn't heard anything else.

Currently a new mold is being made. These will be the changes. The outer edges of the vents are going to come in to line up with the outer edge of the intake vent, the entire vent is going to be shifted back a little.
The vent edges are going to be more subtle like on the sl65 so that when you look at the car it will be less noticeable and the vents are going to dip down more into the engine bay. The edges of the vent currently rise about 17-18mm above the hood and should not rise so much from the hood. From the pics below of the sl65, the vent edges are about 10mm above the hood. Also, the edges of the vent should be rounded like in the sl65 pictures, and not with sharp angles
In terms of the production, I am first going to receive my stock hood with the new design and make sure the new design doesn't require major modifications to fit. If all goes well, then I will be producing the hood after I enroll to be a sponsor. If it doesn't fit and does require major modifications, than I will make it a one off. I don't mind so much with the newer design, because it will be fully to my liking.

I now have my replacement CLL hood direct from MB. Below is the look i am going for on CLK hood, more gills rather than large vents. I have found the fabricators and hopefully should have some progress to demonstrate in a month or so.

Very nice. Have you been running hood pins on your cf hoods?

CLK 63 Black Series
Actually both as you guys have similar projects going. Would like to know whether there would be a weight reduction by using different materials or are you actually just cutting into the original hood?
It looks really good similar to what is on the SL Black which makes it look very agressive.

Mock up has started on this CLK vented hood. I am anticipating having it on the car in 2 weeks. Will post photos of it and new Vorsteiner lip as well.

I was not going to buy this hood, I am having my own hood built as we speak. I just came across it and the design looked tasteful as well as functional and the price looked good too so I thought I would share it with you guys. But your right, chinese products can be of lets just say "lesser quality".
