she finally arrived

Yesterday plycars showed at my house and delivered the BS with 728 miles. I bought the car without looking as it came from Ferrari of Seattle. had the local MB dealer perform a pre buyer inspection. everything was as expected , accept right rear wheel had a small gouge and the tire too, it was not noted during sipping, so not sure how and when it happened, just my luck. The second key remote does not work , and neither does the valet key, seems like its from a different car?, hope this issues get resolved. other then that the car is HOT.

need to get to 1000 miles quick before the warranty expire so i can get the diff fluid changed, is that complimentry?

No need to rush, not complimentary.

It is complimentary. I didn't pay for the differential service on my car.

The change of the differential fluid in the limited slip differential is a service that your Mercedes-Benz dealer should perform at no charge. It is a required service to be performed when the vehicle reaches the first 1,800 miles.

I have seen reports of some owners having to pay for this service, but it should be performed without cost to the owner.

Also, some owners have posted that their dealerships weren't aware that a fluid change was required.

If you should have any questions, contact Mercedes-Benz USA. They should be able to properly inform both you and your dealership regarding the change of the differential fluid.

BTW, just make sure the dealer has not only the correct oil, but also a new drain plug and gasket in stock. When I had my service done, they needed to order it from Germany and it took a few days.

Guess its a toss up then, depending on the dealership. Probably supposed to be covered but some have been charging.

If you were charged, you might be able to have it refunded, or applied to a future service, if you point this out to your dealership.

it was complimentary for me too but not sure now since you are not first owner and the car is 4 years old now. I doubt it will be complimentary.

Page 7 of the "Service and Warranty Information 2008 Passenger Cars: “Please bring in your Mercedes-Benz vehicle to your authorized Mercedes-Benz Center for its first visit anytime between 1,000 and 3,000 miles. This first visit is for a basic vehicle diagnostic test and for answering any questions you may have regarding the vehicle and it’s features, the first visit is at no charge provided it is performance at an authorized Mercedes-Benz Center with the Us and Puerto Rico”.

Also, page 54 states this 1st visit includes the differential fluid to be changed, so should be covered!

Rear differential fluid change is mileage only, between 1,800 and 1,900 miles.

I took mine in at 4,393 and got charged on the rear diff fluid change, $126. Correct fluid for this type of diff is 001-989-52-03-10. You don’t have many miles so this should be free when you get those easy break-in miles done, if not then you should have brought your service book to learn them!

728 miles, wow. I would almost feel guilty driving that.

thats what i thought i read the service manual, it does say 1000 mile diff change, hence i asked the question , my warranty expires end of dec, but i can always change the diff fluid my self, it shouldnt be a big deal. i have a question where do you all get your MB parts from , when i had my porsche , i got all my parts from sunset porsche at 15 % over cost, very reasobavle to do things youself,

thanks

Very happy for you, after all that debating about the getting rid of the Porsche....you did the right thing, any pics of this collector? I am very interested in your impressions of this car after driving/owning the Porsche. Please do tell, again, congrats and enjoy this loud, seductive motor, it never gets tiring.
