Have you ever test it out with a smoke to see if you truly get ram-air effect with the design? The air might just bump off from the bump to the edge of the hood and follow over instead directly into. One cheap way to test is to have a big (dyno) fan and let it blow smoke onto the car and see how the smoke flow.

It works, it sucks in lots of air. The guys that designed and built it know what they are going and it 100% functional. One of the reasons it sticks up so high is to grab the air, as you mentioned the air begins to break and rise at the top of the grill but it get funneled straight into the inlets. The hood was designed with one thing in mind, getting lots of cool air into the engine.

At first, looking from the side, it higher then I would like it to be in term of look but now I can why after you explained it. Good job !!!! I really admired how fast your car has become.
