I am in the beginning stages of preparing my CLK63 Black Series to run into the 9's in the quarter mile. I know some people on this forum are there (or almost).
How much weight does a 10 pt. rollcage (as required by NHRA requirements) add? What have you done about the side airbags (I think the cage will interfere with the side airbags)?

Contact Weistec Engineering, they offer a full chrome moly roll cage that is NHRA certified for 9 second ETs. ecampell has one in his car and there are photos on here somewhere. I thought he said it weighed in at 70 lbs but I'm still having a hard time believing that weightbecause my chrome moly roll bar weighed in at 72 lbs (with leather wrap). I've seen his cage and its well built, perfect welds and looks great. I am probably going to be upgrading to the full cage this winter to make tech inspection going easier since I'm already running mid 10s.

What if I may ask do you have done to your CLK that makes you think you will be running 9s? I am very interested in details of your build and mods. Thanks.
Are we talking about roll bars or roll cages? There is a difference ... As far as I recall, my Evosport roll bar weighs around 40 some lbs.

I'm well aware thres a difference, I'm just going by what I was told by evosport when they installed it, they said 72 pounds. Maybe I was mis-quoted because if I'm not mistaken you're running the same roll bar. Earls is a full cage so if yours is 40 then maybe Earls is 70ish is accurate.Originally Posted by SMP

Leather wrapped it's 42 lbs. for Evosport's Roll bar. Mine is a few ounces lighter, since it's just powder coated. A cage being 72 lbs. sounds about right.Originally Posted by jrcart

Thanks, I've been quoting 72 for the past 3 years, I just lose 30 pounds and it didn't cost a dime LOLOriginally Posted by SMP

I think a full cage is in my future, running mid 10s I can sweet talk or bribe my way through tech at most track...mid 9s not so much.Originally Posted by ecampbell
