2008 CLK63 BS OEM Seat Replacement Advice

Fellow BS enthusiasts,

I am considering at a beautiful silver CLK63 BS but have found that my ample rear does not fit easily, nor comofrtably into the OEM Euro Recaro race shell seats.

Is there anything to be done, other than losing the weight? It seems that getting the wider Recaros might compromise the SRS airbags and the hard points are unique (i.e. so the standard bracket/sliders won't fit.

Please share with me any thoughts advise as I really, really like that car.

Best,
Desertwind

I would be happy to trade you my US spec leather seats. They have considerably more room. Please PM me if you are interested.

Thanx for the offer PaulWdz, but I intend to retain the OEM seats whatever solution I adopt. I seek advice as to who may have replaced their narrow race shell Recaro seats with alternatives.
I understand that the available brackets/sliders won't necessarily fit this exact model. And I read elsewhere that there may be issues regarding the airbag SRS settings (i.e. replacing the 'paper' sensor between the cushion and shell of the replacement)?

Recaro sells a bypass/immobilizer wiring kit for use with aftermarket seats to turn off the Airbag light. Without seeing exactly how the OEM wiring connects to the seats I can't say for certain that it would work but it is what I did in my CLK BS.

I know youmentioned that you intend on keeping the OEM seats in place, but you could replace the seats with a similar fixed bucket design, just larger. IIRC Sparco makes this sytle in a few dfferent widths, I brought a set in for a bigger guy with a 'Vette years ago when I ran a shop in Canada.

It's worth a quick look IMO.
